new ride

i used my 3rd gen to haul the jeep to the offroad events
and cattle to the sale every wknd, but i dont think this
bad boy will do all that, so we're using my dad's douchemax
for the cattle hauling. im gonna try and hook the jeep up
to the 1st gen and see how it does. you think it'll have any
issue pulling this ?

wow , i need to get an updated pic of the heep hahahahahaha
done a bunch to it since that shot.

got my out of state inspection done with no
issue, today. had a few cummins go by just
about breaking their neck checking out the
old iron !

you'd break my neck too... love a clean 1st gen, especially a white one! :D

it won't have any problem hauling the jeep around

gonna check next week with a few body shops on
the cost of a decent paint job and new trim and
gaskets. should look pretty once its gets a fresh
squirt.

good lookin rig man, makes me wish i had kept my ol' 91 i had :(

I regularly pull around a 40' tandem gooseneck with much more than a jeep on it. That dana 70 should hold up fine.

well, just had a weird thing happen. ran an
errand this morning and all was good. pulled
up in my driveway and got out, went inside.
came back out to run my 2nd errand and there
was coolant under the truck. checked all hoses,
water pump, radiator, etc... nothing !! just drove
it about 25 miles, and drove the chit out of it,
and NOTHING again.. wtf over... temp never got
over the normal, oil pressure is good, no water in
the oil, nadda. scratchin my head on this one.

yup, i sure will. it was dry as a bone
when i checked it. it SEEMED like there
might have been a hole in the radiator
from where the puddle was. maybe its
bladder was just full and it needed a piss,
hell i dunno. ill keep a close eye on it
this week for sure.

yeah thats what i was thinking as well.
can you get one of those testers from
vatozone or napa or something.. ?

I got my D80 out of a 96 and the only two mods you have to do for the install is the shock hangers, shorten the drive shaft 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 inches, depending on the truck, and drill 1" groves in the drums if you still want to use the stock coined rims. I haven't hooked up my e-brake cables yet, so I don't know what that will entail. As for your leak, mine had a similar one. The first time it was my head gasket on the passenger side by the thermostat like most do eventually and the other leak was the radiator. When I took it out it was twice the weight of a new one cause of all the calcium build up and was leaking by the cap, it only leaked when the coolant would go in or out of the over flow tank, that's why I couldn't find it.

ah okay got it. thanks for the info. i drove it again
yesterday and noticed the overflow bottlw was low.
the oil still hasnt be contaminated, so thats good news.
i dont see it leaking anywhere around the head gasket,
so im hoping its just a hole in the radiator, i can replace
that pretty easy.

what are you guys doing about a brake controller ? what
wire do you hook up to ?

There is a switch about 3/4 up the brake peddle with several wires going to it. I taped into the white wire for the signal.
I have a Draw-Tight controller and its the digital one, I don't remember the exact model. Think I spent about $120 for it. It can do up to 8 wheels and that what my trailer has.

its not the connector thats right next to the ebrake release is it?
ill check it out and see what i can see.

i did get a pressure tester from auto parts store when i picked
up the shocks today, so we'll see what it shows.

...and just put the pressure tester on the radiator and what
do ya know. a pin hole on one of the top tubes on the drivers
side. not too bad but when i put 20 lbs of pressure in it, the
juices started flowing. going to pick up a radiator tomorrow
morning, $250. doesnt look to be too hard of a job.
