NX Duramax Mustang gets New ZZ manifold , just in time for Hot Rod Drag Week 2010

What happened to the chevelle you posted pics of last year?

You mean Tyler’s Z28, it is waiting on JohnBoy to fly in this week and tune it and the NX Mustang, and it possibly will go to Drag week as well. If Tyler can get the time off from his family business.
His family’s excavation business has going crazy just before Drag Week last year, building runways and taxi ways for the government, so no time for hot rods.

Tommy at KPE is doing complete race cars, as well as street cars, to from 3 second 1/8 mile Top dragsters and Pro Mods to Dmax powered cruisers . He is also doing the boats as well. If you want to install a Dmax in anything, KPE is the place to go.
They have complete standalone computers, and a full line of Greg’s manifolds for turbo’s blowers, and Prochargers on a Dmax.
I wished I could show you Greg’s individual runner 6.7 manifold for the 2.6 puller that is going together at KPE. It’s a work of art. The head has 1.90 rockers as well, with my new big core cam ( 60mm ) here is a prototype picture of the rockers .

these rockers will change the CR world , at the bargain price with a valve cover of $3800

the same guy that designed these has Dmax ones coming as well

pick JohnBoy up at Love field thursday , and will have the new dyno numbers over the next few days.
the old number was clase to 900 with out NX. the car just blows the little street radial off if you lean on it any harder.
with the new Indrustrial Injection pump, and Injectors , and the huge numbers that were rolled at their dyno event , with their injectors and pumps , there is no telling how much this motor could make.
I will know when the dragster hits the track, the drive line is more able to take it all . just put these number in a power speed calc. 1875 lbs with 1400 hp

Will he do them for a 12 valve with a 1.90? MAN THEM ARE HOT!!!Hook a brother up:bow:

is the texas mile in october on the books too with both cars again?

whats the benifit of having a 1.90 rocker. it's in my brain but can't find it so inliten me

Well its simple, the latest ZZ cylinder head programs want up to .900 lift on the 12 valve, and over .600 lift on the 24 valve.
There is far more to cam programs them tossing out numbers. The newest cam profile are designed allow the valve to move to the maximum lift numbers quicker, and give more area under the curve. That the simplest way to explain it, on my race cams I start with the optimal valve train motion, at the valve, and work back thru the rocker, and then on to the lifter, and lobe design .
I use rocker ratio first, and if the desired lift is .600 then as close to 2.0 to 1 is the target for the rocker. This allows the cam lobe lift to be around .300. At .300 lobes lift the base circle larger.
This larger base circle allows the cam acceleration rates to be aggressive, but maintain full control of the valve train. This is after 25 years of designing cam programs for competitive racing engines. Pro Stock engines are now using 75 mm cams for this reason.

Oh and congratulations to Greg at ZZ custom Fabrication and Haisley Machine , the top 4 pulling classes at SDX were won but Haisley engines , using Greg’s manifolds and heads , and the 4th class runner up , to a Duramax . So in reality all four of the strongest running Cummins were Haisley engines with ZZ manifold and heads

Car is running now. We are all most finished with upgrade. Dyno time!

I heard that the car was cruising the main drag in Wichita Falls.
I hate that I have to be at the fire station today. *nx*

Come on you can give us more than that .

No tuning changes. Just the new Cam, Intake, CP3 and Injectors gained us big over the previous best on this same dyno. We are not worried about a a big number. We race the track not the dyno. We are just using the dyno to make sure everything is good to go and to make tuning improvements. I am worried more about the powerband and shape of the curve than peak power. So I will not mention the number. But I will say it is higher and that it is stout.

Yes it was. I was cruising behind it in the LS S10!*nx*

Cool stuff. When is the car going to make some passes?

Just finished on dyno.

On the *nx* it was down right nasty. I will try to get the video uploaded tonight.

why is there never any video, or anything just randon snippets of info saying a buncha stuff, VIDEEOOOOO!!!!! or it never happened

There is video. They grabbed the camera before I could get it downloaded.
I am a busy man at a dyno session. Two different datalogs plus all graphs from the dyno to go over.

I did not realize they had taken the camera back to NX.

The video should be up on either my YOUTUBE channel or NX's soon.
