anyone have pics of welding the drive gears to the case of a Dana 80. any ideas or tips?

What gear ratio?

Lay some grade 8 bolts in the gears and weld them up. With out the bolts, it will just shear the teeth that were welded. I dont have any pictures but basically you are allowing the bolt to stop the gears from meshing and just welding the stop in place.

put the carrier in a oven and heat up the gears then tig weld them

Tip...

Measure the space that is under the gear and make up a piece on the lathe to take up the space to keep the gear in its original spot...

I welded the front. To cheap to buy and ARB. I already killed and E-locker. Just Tigged the old open carrier.
