Pics of Welded Dana 80?

Done properly, a welded rearend is just as strong as a full spool!!! Other parts in the rearend will break before a properly welded carrier will!!! Hack the $$$ you'll save can be spent on somthing else that needs beefed up!

i agree... i mean if you have the money to put into a full spool go ahead but until then weld it. Much Cheaper $.02

I agree with the 3 previous statements as well. Welded gets the job done just fine!

You make that piece yourself? You interested in making me some?

You don't happen to have a picture of the peice do you?

The first picture is the piece that needs to be made..
The second is the Race
The third is the gear

If you do go this route the heat from welding will warp the housing and might be tough to put the bolts in$.02

Nice machine work!!!! This is on a power lock carrier right? An open carrier don't need that piece made....

I've never been inside an 80 the pictures your posting are they from a LSD or open carrier?

Mine looks very close to yours , I took 2 axle gears or what ever there called that fit down inside and one of those = the amount of shims the other I welded to the back side of the gear but mine did break the welds around the part of the housing I ended up puting steel cross bars across that fit in the slots then tig them to the gear and housing so far its held , I rather do a open carrier tho

well yeah, all the big dogs got a little more money than us average folk though, otherwise we would be big dogs too!

x2! my front and rear welded no problems here

Going to have a friend make me those spacers for mine, anyone want a set while he has it set up?

Can you run a welded front in a DD if you have a CAD?

Your front dshaft will always have force going to it then, not sure if it would hurt anything in the dodge tcase tho. I'd also like to know if its ok.
