Pro Street Rules

You missed a good one!!!!!! lots of voice raising, arguing and everything else!:stab:

Rules...yeah, here is a recap up untill I left at 3:15

-Charger limit will be a 2.8" with bushings allowed ( had a heated discussion on 2.6" chargers and running bushings) and most seem to think that what they lacked in the size of their unit they would make up in there turbo...from what I hear most women even agree that bigger isn't always better! And from a guys point of view, I doubt some new guy will enter the show once he finds out everyone else is way bigger than he is!!!!! Different prespective on things but I am sure you get the idea! nothing like scaring the crap out of anyone even thinking of running in the entry level diesel class up here!

-Hanging weight will be allowed behind the front bumper

-Aftermarket bumpers are not allowed (seriously, what the F&ck is the difference if you already are allowing hanging weight infront of the box of the truck.)

-Anyone ever wanting to pull with a 6.4L Ford is $hit out of luck because they are not allowing any trucks into the class that even came with Twins from the Factory (I am sure something could have been figured out on this that would work!)

Here is the biggest rule that came up and I am putting this into my own text

-We, the Pro-street class of Ontario, Canada are now trying our hardest to not allow any new commers into our class as we feel that insane turbo charger limits and all the other BS rules that where put forth in our fall 2009anual meeting, will scare the crap out of anyone new to the sport even thinking of pulling with us, with the hope that in the next 5 years it will be the same old 8 or 9 guys pulling at each event and putting on the same old show.... :nail:::badidea::doh::nail:

As you can tell, I am a little bitter over the whole thing and I was only there to support the class with the hopes that we can have it grow and get even more new blood into it...personally don't see that happening or as much as it could have been. Some in the class I believe must be on cloud nine they think next year is going to be even better than this year!

RyanB

This was my first year pulling and to tell you the truth I never saw it your way untill you mentioned it and I have to agree with you. Is there even going to be a Promod class next year and if so who's going to run in it? It's crazy they won't let a stock 6.4 run in the class, it's a stock truck and should be allowed 100%. I wish I could have made it but work comes first.

Farmer Dave,
Okay, Now maybe you should have a rational recap of the meeting, ( RyanB and marc are upset about the no aftermarket bumper rule,( which ryans brother builds to sell) and the fact that neither of them actually pulled in the class in the last year ( or any clas for that matter) so they could not vote. If any thing the meeting toned down the crazy 2.9 turbo limit and put some safety equipment in to the mix( air shut off, trans blanket and clutch inspection). Please under stand that the Class has been dying for the last several years so some stuff got removed in hopes of getting the class up and going again. THis year we had 17 trucks show up to pull the circuit and it was a great show. I don't see where the Rules they used ( Schied's 2.8) as bieng stupid. I don't like weight behind the bumper either but its weight infront of the box for crying out loud! We have a limit and we have saftey, I don't care what the turbo limit is, it uses a bushing, 2.6 2.8 who cares, we don't have tracks that can take more than 500hp anyway.
As far as the mod class goes, its on but Ryan won't be in it, he made it perfectly clear he has no intention of building another truck with out a tube frame, cut tires etc, even then He wants to pull super mod, we wont be there for at least 5 years
We started it with out him, we will run with out him i guess,

I am tired of these guys( in general) with lots to say but never showing up in this class, next year will show who is really committed to pulling in this class and who just wants to talk. Build a mod truck, don't just talk about it.

Thanks
Heath

Sounds good I'm easy. It would be nice to get these rules on the site written in stone so people can get these things done over winter. I was going to pull with my new 6.4 but I guess I'll keep using the Dmax and give you Dodges a chance. wink wink

Well put Heath. I am with you on this. I don't see why two guys who never show up feel like they should be able to have a say in anything. As far as prostreet I am pretty impressed with how the rules turned out for next year. I think everyone should stop pissing and moaning and be thankful that there is a sanctioned class(prostreet) that offers hooks on a regular basis! Heath, hopefully they agree to allowing the prostreets to hook with the mods at select events like you proposed. I will be all over that, and hopefully it helps out the promod class for the years to come.

I was at that meeting and am planning to run that class next season and as someone who has only ever made one pull in a local classs I can say that yes these rules do look intimidating especially the 2.8 turbo rule. Knowing that to be competitive I need something that big right away is making me wonder about entering the class. Just because Mark and Ryan won't be pulling in that class doesnt mean anything. There views and ideas make sense. Is this not still a STREET class??

Thank you Heath for your unbiased and well stated remarks on a meeting that in most peoples opinions went off exceptionally well and was done in very good time at 2 hours 20 minutes.

From these posted remarks in the last day, it is interesting to note that in fact no rules changed this year from last year except to downsize the turbo to 2.8 from 2.9 and to allow for weights ahead of the box and to add some safety equipment to trucks that needed it in the first place (see Heaths remarks).

Every other one of the rules, reworded or not, were there and in place already in 2009 , just maybe not worded properly, or erred by ommission, or were missread in the same fashion - meaning now the voted rules, are now explicit instead of grey

And with those same rules grey or not, from the 2008 season we got 17 trucks out in 2009, vs the 2 trucks we had in 2008

I would say we as a class are doing something right, and fabulously so, and I would also say there is no intimidation factor to be had by a new puller in any way, when the most stock truck in the class won both Central, and Great LAkes points for the year and the second most stock truck placed third, and what I call a a mildly modified duramax, placed fourth.

On that note:

Everyone - I have to thank you for making the effort to come out to the meeting, all 26 of you - another record for a class meeting, and i will not apologize that some people who dont pull in the class went away unhappy - as that is the nature of "voted" rules.

I look forward to seeing all of you new pullers (3 that I know of from the meeting) , and our 17 seasoned pullers (making a total of 20 for the class) out for next year. Here in Ontario Canada, to say you have 20 pullers for a class is nothing short of incredible when most classes here have a hard time posting 5 to 10 or so pullers

Guys - With your continued help and your obvious enthusaism, and professionalism, we will continue to make our class the best show on the curcuit for sure.

Last but not least I wish to thank those that re-elected me as class rep, and I also wish to extend a VERY LARGE thankyou to our two new class techs who graciously stepped up to the plate for a very tough job,

Thank you again, one and all!!!!

Ken- You already know my feelings on what when on and I won't post anymore about it other than just this one thing.

For the sake of Chris K, look into having him grandfathered into the class as he was running an aftermarket bumper before the current rulling (this is one thing that bothers me most) and its not no little $50 alluminum bushing to fit into a turbo but a major external part of the truck that he would have to lose. Other classes have had vehicals grandfathered into new rules (as the Mod Farm class about P-Pumps).

All I have to say....As far as the meeting goes, nice place, good to see a bunch of guys out and hopefully the class continue to grow.

This was my first season pulling and I was intimidated coming in I must say but after getting to know the guys I realized there is alot more to pulling then winning. You get to hang out with guys with the exact same interest as you and i looked forward to hanging out before and after the pulls just as much as running down the track.

Who are the new class reps?
