Ever since putting the redline on my truck I have noticed that after a pull I get a little puddle of oil out of the breather hose when I park the truck and let it cool down. I figured this was normal due to running 4k on a fairly stock motor.

Last night when pulling apparently the tech crew was making a comment that had left a noticable puddle of oil on the starting line when I launched.

Here is the thing tho, if I take the oil cap off there is no pressure in the crank case, even if i rev it up there is no pressure. So I dont think the rings are bad. Any ideas?

tj you left a good amount of oil going down the track too. i think thats why that duramax pulled so far

Blow by under boost. When you rev it up your not getting any boost, you have to load the engine to build the boost.

its all coming from the blow by tube.

well if its just under boost which makes sense, i will keep an eye on it next week when i put the truck in the right gear :bang and can actually make full boost.

doh... 2nd gear instead of 4th= 4100 rpms, 36psi, and 1000* EGT's and a really short pull

I had that problem when i put on the big charger, but i blew out the tappet cover gasket,
I put on valve cover breathers and now i have no problems:rockwoot:

so you saying that the stock little breather on the front of the timing cover isnt enough?

should i put some breathers on top of the valve cover? wouldnt be that hard with some of those universal breathers

That would work, the only problem with them is the oil gets everywhere unless you find breathers with baffles

How is your front breather?? clean????

ill look at it later, truck is still on the trailer cuz we got back late last night

I would be scared if my truck did not puke oil :hehe:, I would just say it is due to your new found RPM?

Sounded like you were breaking up last night, was that your valves floating? The track looked like it sucked, almost everyone was hopping the first 75-100 feet, and a lot of guys just spun their tires and could never get a good bite. There was a nice turnout of 1gen. dodges though, that was cool. Better luck next time man!

nope valves were good...it was defueling at 4100 rpms thats the popping you heard.

The more I think about what I saw when you pulled, and what was on the track, it might have just been a hard spot on the track, not an oil streak. I could not see it very well from where we were sitting. Did you check your oil today and see how low it was compared to before the pull?
