Puking oil on spool up?

IIRC, the bolt behind the pump won't allow the cover to come off without the vp44 coming off first.

I had to take my pump off to change the cover... the one bolt is covered by the pump.

I can not find the part number of the valve cover vent that I bought at Jegs, but It was and off the shelf part and it installed by cutting a 1"X2" hole in the side of the valve cover and drilling 4 1/8" holes to mount it with... very simple install.

I guess i am just gonna have to find a reason to take the pump off...hmmm

and thanks lavon, i'll try to find it again on their site today, i found others but not the one you posted.

I've got the tappet cover off with the pump on before. It's a huge pain in the a$$ and can be done, but this was in a freightliner FL70 also so things were alittle easier to get to. So it can be done, it just takes longer, much quicker to just remove the pump.

TJ i was thinking, if your going to replace/clean/check the tappet cover I would look into a billit one

TJ...
Another idea for you to think about and also check is the charger.See how much end play it has now after two seasons of pulling.I have seen turbos pass boost beyond the inner oil seal and into the crankcase via the turbo drain tube. Its and area that can not been seen until your under load or heavy boost......Andy

thanks andy i double check that tomorrow also.

BTW- doesn't look like I am gonna make it up for Spring Fling, so I will have to get with you another day on those springs when I can make a trip north.

Yeah I would look into that as well, my truck started leaking oil out of the front timing cover gasket right before my charger went out. But it would only do it after hard runs or after sustaining 15psi or so for an extended period of time.

too much money, i certainly dont need it on my truck

The only reason why i mentioned the Billit is (Not only B/C their cool ) that if you dont get your breathers to vent as much as you want your still going to have a lot of blow by.
And most likely blow the tappet cover gasket, the billit is stronger than that stamped steel $.02

Thats too bad its a good time:rockwoot:

You can make a cheap breather by getting and extra valve cover oil cap and drilling about a 1/2" hole through it. Sure it wont flow a bunch, but it will help some. You can switch to the holy cap when you pull and switch back afterward....
