Pulling tire?

You get those tracks, that are like that. Not all of them are the hard pack Indiana clay tracks. Yes but 15-20 lbs of dirt that assures you have a dirt bed underneath the pan, could float the pan enough to give you that inch. This is just a theory I am wandering about as I have seen a few tracks like I said you just lug the sled out, it just keeps going and going.

Yeah your theory is right. But their is a fine line when ya get too much in front of the pan and you can control that by a few different things...one being tires on the back of the truck. Also if ya dig down and through a lot of dirt, your diging down...and that is like pulling up hill and slowes momentum down.

Well whats worse, 15lbs of dirt in front of the sled, or slick tires that are real easy to spin at the end as opposed to a tire that will pull till its about to kill the charger?

Everything is give and take here.

Look at P/S tractors... thay dont have hardly any tread on the back tires. They spin the heck out of them.

If you got a set of tires that pull your engine down that far then your loosing tire speed/ground speed and that will hurt ya!

You're talking about a whole different breed of cat though. The width and height and the fact that they turn around 100mph on some tractors. As long as they can keep the front down the sled will drag over the loose dirt they kick up. If they had a lot of lug they would either bog down on the line or flip up (Which I have seen happen.)

Here Is How I Would Rate The Tires I've Tested Over The Years.

In My Opinion We Have A Definite Top 3

s.s. Sts (most Popular And Work Better On Lose Tracks Than Others But Suck When A Track Gets Wet.)

mastercraft Ct's (probably One Of The Best Tires For All Track Conditons)

bfg At's (works Well On Most Tracks But I Don't Like The Weak Side Walls. I Remember Some 2wd Pullers Were Having Sidewall Issues A Few Years Back)

mickey Thompson Atz Didn't Work As Well As The Top 3.

claws Don't Waste Your Money They Look Good But Don't Even Come Close To The Top 3

cooper St's Look Similar To Mastercraft Ct's But They Didn't Hook Nearly As Well.

s.s Boggers Have Too Much Tread For Hard Tracks And Just Roll Back, But A Good Set Of Road Worn With 1/4" Of Tread Work Good On Some Tracks.

I've Tried A Few Different Brands Of Mud-terrains And None Compare To A Good All-terrain Style Tire On The Pulling Track.

I Will Be Testing A New Tire In 09 On Some Trucks I Will Let You Know How They Do.

P.S. SIZE DOES MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN HOW HARD A TIRE HOOKS THE BIGGER THE BETTER IF YOU GOT THE POWER AND THE PARTS TO HOLD IT:hehe:

Ive ran Mickey ATZ's and they did ok. I went to an STS later and seemed to like them a bit better. They worked very well for my truck on a tacky track. Could have been the way the truck was set up at the time also. Ill be sticking to the sts tires. Tory Ive got 4 33 12.50 16R. Get me some 10 inch wides and Ill trade ya.

What are you saying anthony? That if i buy 4 33 10 16 you will trade me yours?

you forgettin one of the meanest out there lol, the toyo mt, wickedly consistent on both types, except for realllllyyy wet tracks they dig to china lol

Don't some of your pulling classes say a 35" is the largest tire.

Tori I thought you and Dane did very well with your sts's last season. You guys almost had me looking for a set. My Pro-Comp X-Allterrains aren't it tacky tracks were the only thing they hooked up on. Ben did good with his ATZ's but it would be real easy to over power them too. I think you said once the sts's will have you looking for more hp so you know they bite good. The best alternative would be to have to sets or run sts's in front and BFG All-terrains in rear. The two pulls I went to with my 33 -15.50 mtz's I really seemed to like them. On a real hard track I picked up 4mph with the Old Busch sled but I'm afraid to run them on a tacky track. I think if you have enough hp to spin them it would be fine but as soon as you don't and they start lugging something is going to break.

I run toyo m/t's and they will tear the truck up on a tight track. Maybe be better if they weren't new. More partial to bfg a/t's.

most of places we run with say that in the rules but we've asked and its not really a big deal when you end up running against duallys. NADM lets us run them and we let nick lee borrow ours when he went to indy and won

I run Dick Cepek FC-2's. They seem to like my truck better than BFG AT's. I am constantly changing setups so its hard to really compare. If you find a magic pulling tire let me know
