Purple People Eater Sh*t itself today

You had better find a deleted truck to do that if you want to even open the hood and see the motor....or do it from the bottom. LOL

Cam retainer bolts, retainer is in pieces, cam is stuck in block.

Adapter plate is the same between all the 2nd gen trucks.

I didn't know. The 5spd one we had on the floor looked a little different, but we didn't compare side by side. Unless you mean the auto's were all the same?

They are the same, auto and manual. 94-02. First gens are different.

Gnarly photos Mike..

Oh that's why then lol. Thanks.

I wish I had before shots. This whole engine was in need of a bath. One of the old pistons even had a dead mouse half decayed in it.

#6 kisses the valves, I think when the pin let go, probably on the upstroke?

#2 had some weird camouflage pattern going on.

I sold my aftermarket pushrods 2.5 years ago, put stock back in, and bought a spare set for $15

I ordered a few extra from taylor to replace them. Figured I might as well run them if I have them since I've never seen a clear answer on the common failure point for stock ones. I remember seeing 600hp years ago.

Also, adapter plate and starter will be here monday, then I'll just be waiting on pushrods, and new primary.

Gonna run the head.

Measured piston protrusion.

#1 is .023
#2 is .024
#3 is .026
#4 is .026
#5 is .024
#6 is .020

Is that ok on a storm block with non-ic pistons, stock gasket? 2000 manual says .024-.028.

Also what will my actual compression be now? Im thinking 17.3:1 with the deck blocked .005?

That's a sizable crack. But I have no experience with cracked seats so IDK. Interested as well.

If it pressure test good, run it.

I don't know how you would pressure test it, but I decided to run it for now. I figure it ran good before, it should run fine this time. As long as the valves seal right?

But just in case it fails, what would the effects be? Extra blowby from that valve cover?

Did you sand down the tips of your injectors?

No, I didn't notice that either when taking the pictures. I sure hope it was just the lighting. If that did somehow get sanded down, would that weaken the tip at all? I do have new ones on the way, so this one won't be in there long. Then this set is getting tested and sold.
