S468 on with pics!

Did u run the flex pipe under the truck and let it vent to the atmosphere vs tying it in to the DP? I'm definitely gonna need some schooling on setting up the WG. I understand dirve pressure should be one input, and I guess boost is another. But what's up with the springs?

Yes on the flex pipe.

The springs are under the cap which has ED imprinted on it. They press against the valve and keep it from being open by drive pressure. Boost or drive pressure, whichever you want to run, in the top port aids in keeping the gate closed. Boost or drive in the bottom port aids in opening the gate. I like boost to keep the soot from getting in the gate. The idea is to get the gate close with the springs and then add more boost/drive to the top port and bottom port in a good ratio to get the gate to open how you want. I plan to run a regulator on the top port eventually to fine tune how the gate is kept close but that may change based on what I find.

Oi, sounds like another puzzle. I thought the goal of the external WG was to keep drive pressure under control in the event it starts to exceed boost by more than a ratio of 1.2:1.

Looking forward to some video and some more info on this charger.
NickTF your pm's are full.

It is, but if it opens too much too quick it will drop drive more then you want which will effect total boost as well. That's why the gates have all the spring and pressure port options for tuning!

Gotcha. Maybe flex pipe is a good idea. I can make it come up in the front of the truck someplace I can see so I know when it releases. Maybe a mini hood stack...

Paul I can walk you through the gate if you want. The springs and drive pressure in the top port of the gate keep the valve closed against the drive. There is a substantial amount of pressure on the valve with 60-70lbs of drive. The drive on top and the springs end up creating an imbalance that you then use the regulated boost in the bottom port to overcome and open the valve where you want it to. Clear as mud right? Call me when you set it up I can walk you through it.

Sorry Nick I wasnt trying to trump your explanation. I didnt even see your post

Well honestly I wasn't sure on how I was going to regulate the imbalance Chris so your explanation is appreciated, gives me some place to start and try. Any reason you prefer drive over boost?

Good info to have..might save me a couple calls to Chris for tuning tipsLOL

Exactly what I did, worked great for tuning the gate. But now that I went twins I have a sweet hole in my hood

i ran my E.D. WG with drive to the top and regulated boost to the bottom along with the stiffest springs i had (chris recommended this) . I havent had time to tune on it because as soon as i hooked it all up... that next week she locked up on me so.. i got plenty other things to do at the time.

2" flex pipe. The pipe I got at the store for the flex to clamp over is a bit smaller like 1 7/8" or something. Your best bet is to wait to get the gate and see what all you need with the exhaust pipe with the v-band flange in your hand.

I now have drive running to the top port, nothing running to the bottom yet. How I had it setup before resulted in the gate not opening at all judging by the spotlessinside of the flexpipe.

Hittin the test and tune tomorrow. Won't have the ability to make changes on the gate but will have my drive pressure gauge hooked up to see where I need to go. I'm hoping for some good times, she sure pulls good now!

Brandon I ran my flex on the other side(between the engine and the downpipe. I thought there was more room. If you can't figure it out, I can get some pictures. I know some of you guys from Ohio, have limited abilities!

Dan, we refer to your set up as the "Grandstand Data Logger" option. Its kind of like the "Poor Mans Data Logger" only you have your wife monitor it from the stands.

Ya know if she's a good woman she'll hitch a ride on the under carriage and yell up to you when the soot pours out!:hehe:
