S468 on with pics!

Great runs, that truck has gotten a lot faster, good job on selecting a winning combination.

I'm very happy and once again I want to thank Chris, that guy has spent more time texting me and on the phone than anyone should have ha!

I certainly hope to get alot faster with this combination, this charger has much room to grow! At this point i'm thinking it needs some tuning to get up on the charger faster and some more fuel to burn while going down the track as the charger is cleaning it all up pretty good!

Congrats that is awesome!!!!!! I am glad to hear its working for you, its come a long way.

Unless your skeered!

Ha ha, honestly at this point i'm more interested in that plate which shuts off one side of the twin scroll to boost the turbo up faster. I think ED is working on something and I want to give them a while to see what they come up with. Being this truck is my daily driver I have much more need for the turbo to spool quicker (if it can be done with the new plate) then just to shoot a bit of nitrous at the line to get it to spool.

tubular header? port/polish? Intake mods?

Had a tubular header, in my experience they take longer to spool chargers when talking 0-10psi.

Port and polishing the head is not in the cards at the moment but something i've considered for the long distance as well as a cam.

What intake mods are you talking about? I was under the impression the intake bridge that comes from the intercooler pipe to the grid heater is not a big restriction and wouldn't provide anything regarding better spool.

So when when you locking up that Goerend and how many psi did you launch at with those tires?

Locking her up in 2nd when it shifts into second and varied the launches between 20-26 psi.

Also, just want to add and point out that this is a .9 tenth/6mph improvement over my previous times with the t66. Part of it was the 1/10th reduction in 60' though and maybe some the weather as it was 55 or so when making these runs vs. 65 or so when making runs with t66.

Questions........

1-How can you compare track times and mph between the two setups when you not only swapped turbos you swapped manifolds?.You never went back to the track after removing Bodie's manifold thus you have two completely different sets of stats. The only way to truly compare the runs is to have given Bodie's header its due with the bigger S468 on the drag strip.

2-Was the weight of your truck the same when you ran last night or was it lighter?.Somehow I am going to guess lighter at Cecil knowing what you learned at Delmar.

3-Another thing that also comes into play with the added performance is the complete difference in the tracks.Cecil County is well known for its ability to hook anytime during the season where Delmar early is like watching a high speed pass on ice.

4-Weather conditions, what were they????....I'd bet the difference in weather conditions would also amount to the better times.

I am glad you went faster, but, for those who are watching your progress comparing the days at the tracks are like comparing apples and oranges.Claiming how much better the new turbo ran than the other one would have more merit if you ran them both in the same conditions and with the same setups.I am still not buying the S468 is that much better than the Turbonetics.I'd say in your present tune it may be but if you were to reinstall the Turbonetics now I'd say it should out perform the Schwitzer easily.......Andy

IIRC Nick experienced very little if any gain by switching manifolds. Also I think that the fact that this new turbo is cleaning up the fuel much better is proof enough that its pushing more air.

Andy, relax a bit man. Both runs were at the same track.

Further, have a gtech type device (from beltronics) which has been very accurate when comparing track times. The difference between the manfiods at wot was pretty much nill except that the cast manifold brought the turbo on sooner.

Raceweight was the same, maybe 20lbs difference max!

further, if you read farther back in one of my threads you'll notice I guessed traps of 110mph. Guess what it trapped;). Don't take offense to this but i'm no spring chicken, i've been around the block a few times:)

Hey Nick, care to share the specs on the charger?

.63 a/r v-band compressor cover, ETT 68 mm inducer (not sure on exducer), 83mm inducer/74mm exducer turbine wheel, .90 a/r turbine housing, and alot of stuff ED does to these parts to make them work. PM Chris for detials, i'm sure he won't mind sharing them with you.
