SMARTY DEFUELING ON 07''s ISSUE.

do you have the knowledge to do what marco does...im guessing NO,

Never said I did....but then there is thousands of dmax guys out there that don't either and they are allowed to do so. Thanks for putting me in my place though... I now know better.

A lot of DMAX guys have know idea what they are doing and a few do. Cummins is a different animal. Watching and what Marco he was doing looked beyond complicated.

Injectors maybe limiting. Marco says he likes very bigger injectors and way less tuning. SW3 and flux 4's for example rather than 90's and SW9.

So, I set out to see how this SW3 vs SW9 pans out with the butt dyno. I have what would be "close" to flux 4's (180-ish). Big difference in spool up and SOTP feel as you move from 3 to 9. these where highway runs, so torque management shouldn't of been an issue.

so I'm not so sure tho. I need to get on the dyno dang it. ;-)

There are many other factors like with your turbo size, #9 maybe your sweet spot. The idea being that your sticks and turbos would not run good on 9 but 3 or 5, so your not maxed out on tuning.

I get the idea, less is more. I suspect #7 may in fact for me be better for power, but there's some surging in that software. #9 feels better on the road.

yup, the d-max's are alot easier to tune compared to the cummins ECM...night and day.

According to Marco with the exception of a couple people SW7 runs stronger than SW9, on the dyno.

I think it runs stronger on the upper RPM's more so the lower for sure. it seems to pull better to 3600.

I'm unplugging my rail gauge and I'll load up software #7 for the trip home and see what happens.

i dyno more in sw9 then sw7...about 25hp...and all the way thru the power curve..

i dont see why it would be to different...you didnt try 9 at all..also if you had a water/meth kit you would of dynod more for sure..nothing harsh just a 80/20 mix..

Nope, in the past 9 has been the same. There were some many things we tried and I could have spend another day on the dyno, but I had to travel 7 hours back the same day. THey did play with other trucks so I am sure we will get some more feedback.

Dmax's are a lot easier to tune than cummins most likely because the software has been out for a while and people have learned it. The cummins ecm is hard to crack. What bignasty was referring to is that if marco can figure out how to tune the ecm like a dmax then why can't anyone else. I'm agreeing with him. If marco can do it then I'm sure somebody else out there has the capability of doing it. He never said that he knew how to do it, just wondering why somebody else hasn't figured it out yet.

I'm glad yall are happy with your one size fits all programs. It's not about the fact of whether or not I'm capable of doing it, it's the fact of the ability. No two trucks are the same so why rely on a program that is? Guess I need to sign up for one of these special tuning sessions.

My question is....if Marco can sit there and tune the truck....why is it not possible for anyone else to? It's a conspiracy

I'm thinking marco doesnt have much more tuning capabilities than what the smarty software already has...maybe just more refined and he can fine tune between the "numbers". One would think that truck should be over 700 with the twins and that much fuel if he really could "tune" it. Until efi live or something similar is realeased we wont know.$.02

i as well do about 25 hp difference between 7 and 9 688 with it on 7 and mp8 at 100% and did 708 with the mp8 at 50% but drained the rail anymore than that. but i run 7 on the street and drag strip

What is the point of even building a truck if you are depending on out of the box tuning to get you out in front of the competition? :bang
