Southbend 3600 DD 12cb How many hooks?

If I had to guess I've got around 3doz hooks. Its not the same animal it was at new. Its also seen alot of 3rd and 4th gear street launches. Doesn't like to slip out of the hole now, its all or nothin it seems. But I definatley can't complain about it. Awesome clutch would never use anyone but Peter at SBC!

I went to West Overton pulls on Saturday. While pulling on the scale, I pressed the clutch & the truck kept moving. I almost left the pulls, but I pumped the pedal & clutch came back. After my pull, truck is now shifting great again, but every once in a while, it is hard to get into reverse. I'm thinking my hydraulics are leaking internally. [slave cylinder] Any opinions?

OP are you talking about a lever type pressure plate or a diaphragm type? i have the diaphragm type. pulled twice now and haveing problems getting the clutch to slip. But still running stock hydros

I have over 20 hooks and 25k-30k miles on my 3250 DD. Still like the day I got it. But I know it will come to the end sometime.

What gear and range are you pullin in? What tires are you runnin? I wanted to pull the other nite but I was scared I would trash my 3250.

285 bfg a/t's. 4th low. tried 5th low but didnt have enough fuel and its alot harder on the clutch but it was really dusty so i tried it. i shouldnt have though. put it in 4th and let it eat. dont slip it to long coming out of the hole and youll be fine.

my buddy has one in his 12v w/ 370's laser dv and a 62mm s300. he put at least 30 hooks on it slipping it alot. always came off the line at 4500 in 4th low w/ 3.55's. also is his dd and many burnouts and hookin truck to truck. that clutch is gettin ready to go in another truck, still looks good.

You talkin about the 3600?

i had 10-15 hooks on mine in 5th low with 35" tires and 3.73's and its toast. slipped once and the last hook it just never grabbed. my power level is on that clutches limits tho and im sure the weight, gearing and tire size doesent help

i have the 3600 dd and have done about 4 sled hooks.. cant tell how many 4 and 5 th gear burn outs... on the street.. then go to the drag strip.. run like hell... . still drives like the day i had it put in.. but after i pull the sled.. reverse is like a bitc^ to get inn.. grind from hell.. but i am 2 wheel drive..

:doh:ten hooks on the old 3850 dd and the last one never grabbed. time to move on to bigger and better things.

Wow thats disappointing. I was thinking of putting a 3850 in my 2000 when I start to build it into a sled puller.

If you are going with a strictly puller i would look into the SB 4200 iron giant or maybe even a triple disk
