Southbend 3600 DD 12cb How many hooks?

everyone's driving style is different...

i had 37 hooks, about 15-20 1/4 miles boosted launches, another few dozen 3rd and 4th gear boosted launches on the street, and all around hard driving/abuse on my 3850 and it was still holding fine when i took it out to upgrade to the 4200 before this season.

That sounds a little better. If it will hold ur truck for that long then I should be fine. Ive watched lots of vids of you pulling and it seems like you ride the clutch a little longer than most while getting the sled moving. Im not saying thats a bad thing at all, seems to work very well for you!

I would still like to be able to drive the truck on the street too. Im not sure how friendly the IG 4200 would be on the street.

i got 3850 and got 7hooks to the sled in 5th low with 33s and about 15 take offs in 4th,5th,6th gear launches in 2hi then it was toasted i had it rebuilt for $200 and this is what it looked like when i got it back after my clutch guy had it for a hour

i drove the IG on the street at the beginning of this year when i had the smaller charger on, took it out alot to the local car meets, even got in a few acceleration contests and its not bad to drive in my opinion...no worse than my 3850 was.

yea my first year of pulling i rode the clutch hard but it held up, over the next 2 seasons up to now i have learned to get out of the clutch in the first rotation of the tires and im sure that helps with making it last longer. 13 hooks on the IG so far this year and its treating me well.

Isn't that what the Haisley Street Puller Clutch uses?

iron disc will take more heat than ceramic around 200 degree's, if your pulling you will generate alot more heat. so in theory they should hold up better and last longer.

600.00 for one disc, your using the wrong clutch guy. usually dual disc with iron buttons cost around 600.00 more for both disc's.

feramic and sintered iron disc are a little diiferent, our iron buttons and sintered iron disc are made from a 5135 compound.

centered Iron 600 dollars a clutch someone is ripping you. I bought 2 discs from Hailsey for a little over 400 dollars. I think they hold up a little better but thats just my oponion.

the disc i was talkin about is just like this one at the bottom DRAG MAG TWIN DISC ASSEMBLIES
the buttons he said they was round $4 a button and he was guessin he said a 8in sintered iron clutch was about $200

i sell 12.5 inch sintered iron disc for around 225.00 each. it is more expensive for us to do iron buttons, they are more like 8.50 each our cost. X 48 gets expensive really quick. the iron button set would cost around 600.00

My clutch got smooth after that one hook & now its doing wierd stuff again. Sometimes, I'll go for a drive & the truck shifts fine, others it is hard to get into gear [mostly after it gets hot]. Today, I pressed the clutch to stop at a redlight & it wouldn't disengage. I pulled into a store, shut it off & it shifted fine going home. Peter told me to remove the spacer behind the slave cylinder. I did that & the clutch slipped like crazy so I put it back in there. Any ideas?

Well That Spacer Gives You More Pedal To Push In Thats All,but If You Want A Good Clutch,go With The Iron Giant 4200,when Use Rt You Can Easy Get 80 Hooks Out Of It,believe Me,i Have Done It Many Times,an Peter Will Tell You How My Clutches Hold Up,,,,,,lot Of Guys Want A Triple Disc, that 4200 Ir Will Hold Up To A Lot Of Power When Drove Senseable,no Dumping, don't Ride It More Then One Or Two Spins An Let Her Go,what Kinda Of Clutch You Think I Ran In ''on Barrowed Time'',
