Sticky VGT.

As far as the Cheetah, I can honestly say...NOT IMPRESSED. Factory feel so far. I'm praying that the exhaust brake works way better with the big camper next week than it does bobtail because it is hardly there unloaded. I had large hopes the extra spent on a quality aftermarket turbo would pay off and thus far I'm really disappointed.
That's not what I was hoping to hear. I'm getting close to having to make a decision and thought this might be it. Thanks for the honest feedback though.

Ya, I had a few offers for OEM turbos with very low miles for a bargain and I opted for the Cheetah because of all the great things I've heard.....live and learn I guess. I'm sure if anyone would tune on these trucks with MIA emissions parts we could come up with some kind of greatness with a non-vgt and pac brake or something...but hell, I ain't got time nor budget for all that nonsense anymore. Was hoping for some bolt-on badassery. Just got the bolt-on part.

It's your box. Even with a stock turbo, after the efi. Mine would throw your face in the windshield.

Yep, and he should have bought your good deal turbo you offered, and spent a little on a decent tune.

There's probably about 5 trucks total in the US running a old HS tuner box, ha.

i told ya it isnt a race turbo but it keeps egt in check and the brake is way better than stock...it was noticeable on my pos...really havent seen over 30 psi boost tho

So what controls how hard the VGT brakes? What needs adjusted, program in the ECM or what? Who knows how to do this witchcraft?

Riddle me this,... how many of those are running MiniMaxx software loaded into an XRT display?

I call it...the MiniMutt. And I'm stealing all the CAN bus data off the line between it and the ECM and reproducing all the gauges in larger format on my Murphy display. I could never get the power levels to change from my touch screen and I need the H&S box to reflash or make updates so I just left it mounted next to my screen.

I hate to ditch it and start over since I poured hundreds of hours into this setup back in the day.

Talked to Fleece. They want me to check the EPB sensor and the line to it. They say they use the same actuator as the 2013+ trucks and they fix the vane issues the ORM has. They DO NOT claim any greater braking performance than stock but the braking will vary from setup to setup, so I guess I just need to see how it performs with the big camper next week and see if I need to tweak anything.

If a bigger turbo still feels like stock, thats kinda neat. Hopefully the numbers look better under load.

Your lower boost pressure may be in part due to having a modified head on that engine. Higher flower should reduce boost or resistance.

Know anyone who can do it around here? ;)
I can point you in the right direction if you'd like, send me a PM.

However, its going to require a different platform then HS. MCC support hasn't been around in years.

Jory, work a few Saturdays of OT and pay for a good tune. You will have a new found love for your truck.
Though your gauge setup may not entirely work afterwards. Work more Saturdays, buy new gauge display.

So, the vane position can be re mapped with new tuning to increase e-braking....is that whay you all are telling me?
