Strongest output option

Your transbrake is going to hurt parts long before horespower and torque on a 4000 lb race truck.

Transbrakes are semi-uncharted waters for 47rh transmissions. Sounds fun but I'll bet it will be an expensive road, filled with broken parts.

I recommend you find a local tranny specialist that is willing to go through the research and design so you don't blow your budget on shipping fees.

Ill order the goods and build it myself. Trans brake worries me a little bit too, but i think if i load the driveline before im staged it'll help out alot. Plus diesel don't come off the line hard anyway...:hehe::hehe:

Yeah, diesel's don't have near the torque of a well built gasser....:hehe:

That's what makes them so fun to race, they kill everything in the first 330' if you can get them to hook up.

I remember a time when I raced a C5 Corvette in my 95' 12 valve.

He had me at the tree on reaction time by .045. I passed him just after the 60' mark and pulled ahead almost a full truck length. I led till the 1/8th, and then just a little ways past the 1/8th he caught up. By the 1000' mark he had me by a door and at the stripe, a whole car length.

To me, that was a perfect example of diesel torque out accelerating a high performance gasser engine. The Corvette's top-end surge is a perfect example of higher horsepower to weight ratio combined with better aerodynamics.

hmmm funny my truck pulls much harder on the big end and is a dog off the line. 1.79 60' 6.9 8th on a 10.42 ET @ 138mph... When Max and I lined up last time I knew the real race wouldn't start till the 8th (sadly it ended before the 60' lol)

If your running those times my guess is you need to leave harder or do some chassis work to get that thing off the line. Most 1.8's seem to be around 13s

I think at that weight the suncoast TH400 shaft sounds like a good idea. I doubt I can fit it in my car without big mods. Honestly for what you want to do and run that fast, I'd go with a lenco or liberty. Spend the money once like you said. That's what my next build will have.

Well I would agree but I am very tall geared and have been killing billet input shafts (4 now). It pulled the wheel on that pass so don't think I want to leave much harder but looking to up the spring weight on the rear coil overs. I run a 34.5 tire on a 3.31 gear. The chassis set up has been tough up to the point I got it hooking well enough to snap the shafts LOL.

I'm sure it's a hell of a ride. Why such tall gears?
As far as going lenco or liberty... I don't plan on 8.5 just want the chassis built strong and safe. I can always build another one. Kinda hard to do without legs tho.
Just plan on building a strong drivetrain and a decent et truck. Lot cheaper to build a 10.0 truck than something faster. Plus out of the box I'm sure it'll barely outrun a dodge straight outta the dealership.

I figured I'd just throw it out there because then you won't have to do it twice if this is a race only unit.

Harvey Grant's been running one for a few years in his Ramcharger....nothing too crazy has happened with it, mostly broke driveline parts (as in the yoke on the 9-inch)....other thing he found out is that if you start pushing through it (too much boost at the line) it won't release properly

So I'd go smaller than larger on the turbos and try to make a setup that will go from 20psi to whatever you're going to run in an instant.

I have his old trans (and transbrake) in my 89 now, I'll tell you how it holds up to a whopping 600rwhp soon... LOL

On a side note, you could probably throw in a built 727 for cheap, and it would be a lot easier on parts. Wouldn't hold much over 700rwhp with a non-lockup, but it can be done.
