stuck rack

It may not be hurt as bad as I thought. Raised the hood yesterday to look at it, only a couple quarts down on oil. The head gasket blew, kind of wondering if the pump didn't come unstuck once it started missing from lack of compression on a few holes. When I get time going to see if the lever moves on the side of the pump and probably loosen the injector lines and see if it will crank over.

I think this motor is coming out it's had to many failures in the last few months. One thing for sure, it won't be running any time soon.

Hoping for the best.

Thats crazy that an air shutoff is the only way to be sure this wont happen. You have me worried now.

If I could get the right price I'd probably sell it the way it is and start again with another truck right now but it ain't worth much blowed up. Lost the first head gasket the day you were here.

Did you get your air ride working Jesse?

I feel for ya. With the happenings of the last year in my 98, I'm pretty done.

Hell, I might sell mine just because it needs an oil change. I'm pretty tired of the little crap right now.

CompD helps keep me going!

Mine did the same thing, blew a couple of quarts of oil out the breather tubes and boiled water out of the radiator.

Took the injection lines loose just incase so it wouldn't start. Made no funny noises except the head gasket blown on a couple of holes. Talked to a buddy today, he said a rack or barrel can hang then come back loose. I'm thinking this is what happened to mine. If it didn't burn a piston I'm going to have the pump looked at and do one more head gasket.

Going to set the pump low and sneak up on the boost I want this time.

Gary,
Did you pull the intake and look for oil? It could be a blown turbo feeding oil into the system.

Haven't got that far, going to try to pull the head sunday. I can do it with my eyes closed now. That would be the cheapest way out instead of the pump.

Kind of wondering if I could bolt a hinge on one side of the head and some latch bolts on the other to make gaskets easier to change.

Could a blown turbo seal feed enough oil for a runaway? I'm thinking it's the pump with it finally dieing on it's own. If it was a seal it would have run till it blowed completely up or ran out of oil. Is my thinking right or wrong.

i hope you get this figured out Gary, at least we know a great pump guy.. im sorry if you only have to do another head gasket.. man this makes me feel sick to my stomach knowing the feeling all to well my friend.. i hope you win also..
