Truck Pull May 16th Ceres, CA

I got there right after you pulled. What did you change from the last pulls? Lot more smoke this time ;)

I mess with the tune, the truck runs good but I have no traction, I will be getting a set of BF A/t's.

I'd think you'd want something more agressive. How much are you weighing in at?

Actually, BFG ATs or Swamper STS's would be the perfect tire, you don't want to dig holes with big aggressive meats, especially on a sandy track like that. I ideally the best would be an all-terrain up front and a mild mudder(not Swampers or Boggers) like a BFG MT out back. I am running BFG mudders all the way around right now but one of these days I need to switch out to some wide STS's for the front.
Remember you want traction and surface area in a pulling tire. A good, wide all-terrain will give you just that.$.02 :)

I will get a set of 33x12.5 BF A/t's
Thanks, Tiago

what do you recomend? I weigh 6900.

The super stock class has been pulling long before diesels were around. They all run boggers. That should tell you something. On a hard clay type surface, a mild tire like an AT would probably be great, IMO where we pull you want some bite.

Keep in mind that redpuller and others have much more experience dragging the sled than I do, so take my advice for what it's worth.

Can you add some weight?

The rules say that I can add weight on the bed as long it's safe. CrazyLBZ runs AT tires and he has good traction, I will try BF AT's, thanks for the advice Joe and Jlibert

About the tires I run 20 12s and I get made fun of so bad by those super stock guys but it works for me! I'm sure they wouldn't be the best in a wet track but ive heard a lot of good about those swamper trxus tires but I think they are to soft for the roads

Those guys are also only 5500 and 6000 lbs. with automatics and big block chevys with a lot of top end horse power. We weigh 2000 more lbs. have double and even triple the engine torque output which puts more load on the drivetrain and such. Boggers give you LOTS O traction, pretty much TOO much for a 8K lb. diesel puller. Scott Vorhees showed that back in the day with BBD numero uno. IMO, its to the Super Stock guy's advantage to run such an aggressive tire in their weight class. I thought the same thing back in the day when I decided to get into this stuff and by watching & experiencing over 4 years of diesel pulling, Boggers are a no-no. Trust me, its too much tire for the majority of our venues here in Cali. You want a wide, radial AT or mild mudder. Heck, go all out and get a dual wheel spacer and wheels and run dual ATs or MTs. It's not in the rule book that a SRW truck can't run duals. :ylsuper:

Just want to share the knowledge, help the sport grow and help those that were once where I was. :)

Try to keep as much weight to the front as possible. You can put weight on the passenger side floor. That sled is gonna be putting more than enough bed/back-end weight when you get moving.

Is your hitch adjustable?

I'd say build a weight rack and get as close to 8000lbs as you can. I came with the white dmax that had a wieght rack in ceres and we weighed in at 7910 but they made us pull in the extreme class even though it was basically stock. Thats the only downside.

Nice pull, that white LMM definitely needs some traction, I wanted to go watch, got home at 4 checked the time, realized it started at 2....next time hopefully I'll pull, wasn't ready this weekend.

That blue dodge sure does smoke a lot at idle.

Thats because he had a weight rack, It's an automatic bump! Tiago does not need a weight rack that will throw him in extreme, with a stock motor and stock trans. He just needs tires and more seat time, to figure out setup.

I know it was becasue he had a weight rack. (if you dont think weights help look how close that stock dmax got to the blue dodges distance). Ive only ever heard of the weight rack being an issue this time. I pulled at a L&L pull before as well as MLM before with a weight rack and never got thrown into extreme class. For pulling you want a wieght rack stock or not it helps out a lot. Seat Time? I'm pretty sure theres not much to driving a street mod. diesel truck down the pull track.

The street class is just that, street. You don't see trucks driving down the street with weights attached to the front. I think MLM might allow hanging wieght in the street class, but CSS and VTPA do not.

The CSS guys do a great job at trying to get the trucks in the right classes, and making it fun and affordable for everyone. I'd love to hang weight in the street class too, but you gotta draw the line somewhere.
