Truck Pull May 16th Ceres, CA

You have a point with the air, & I didn't think about the Dodge side;).

I'm in the extreme class too, so none of this matters to me anyway. lol.

The good thing about where we are is that a 600 hp truck can take out an 800 hp truck any day of the week out there if the setup is right.

We used to run Super Swampers a few years ago, you will dig holes. It's almost June, you guy's thinking about changing rules this late?

IMO, if you run mutiple classes you should meet all the rules for the classes you run in, including the saftey gear. i.e. just for exsample if you run street class and drive shaft loops aren't required but then you want to hook again in the next class up and it requires driveshaft loops if you don't have them you shouldn't be allowed, it's not fair to the guy's in that glass that did install them to run with that class. make sense?

Earlier, I would have disagreed.

now I don't really care anymore. lol.

We could eliminate a lot of these problems by just having exhibition runs at the end of the show allowing re-hooks for a flat fee. That would keep guys in one class and still give them the opportunity for more runs. I know a lot of guys would go for that.

X2, about the classes I think it should be only 2 classes, street mod and extreme!

Exhibition hooks are not the answer, if the truck has enough power to break chit and no safety gear on it, the truck still poses a safety hazard to everyone at the track. NADM rules are a good start if the west coast is looking at changing again. Brian Massetti has already adopted there rules for the classes he runs, if the other organizations would fall in line with that, then we would all have one set of rules to follow.

I agree with Scott, if you do not have the safety equipment to run, then you should not be allowed, plus workstock class trucks still break drivelines and shoot u-joint caps into the crowd the same way a mod truck would. So the next time you pull without u-joint shields think about all the people that are around you that could potentially get hurt. Thats what the safety equipment is for anyway.

I understand that people want to pull and alot of the safety equipment is overlooked at tech in order to bring back trucks event after event, but the bottom line is: Everyone needs to conform the the rules at some point so that the sport can move forward, or we will never have anything but county fairs to go to to hook our trucks.

That's what I am talking about and have been pushing for some time now :Cheer: good post Tom.

Where do you draw the line on safety equipment?

Stock trucks can break u-joints too -- should they be required to run shields?

It never ends.

If it was up to me, u-joint shields would be manditory. You should have seen the Casa De Fruta event. Spectating was SCARY! Super stock trucks spinning 7000rpms bouncing down the track with no shields, with people sitting right at the edge of the track. oblivious.

I couldn't believe that, I mean, it's good to get close to the competition but not when your so close you can almost touch the dirt being thrown by the tires. Those people were crazy, even the flag guy almost got ran over cuz one of the SS 6K trucks suddenly turned right at the end of his hook. Wouldn't want to see the result if that happened closer to the spectators.:bang
