I would say it would be possible to trace the transaction but it's not something that would happen during a normal inspection, but if u happened to be in a serious accident or anything with loss of life anything could be possible.
The scenerio I heard was just a scale house check. Got him for fictitious logbook. But this story was also told by a truck driver.
Not saying it couldn't happen but I highly doubt it. Unless his paperwork was so bad the officer was just stacking up charges. I spent 13 years on the road and never had a dot officer look into my logs that hard, but I made sure I knew where I started my day and my last fuel. The sharp ones will ask you that.
Just know that it was mentioned when my girlfriends dad had his 2011 in for a CEL, they replaced a pressure relief valve and mentioned the pump but didn't say it needed to be replaced.
Funny thing is the same outfit has five western stars with 550hp DD15's and they have been almost trouble free...
Elogs are fine. Its the EOBR crap that is gonna chase me out. Look up Eclipse Logs. That's what I use and I'd never go back to paper logs.
It makes you lazy but it is faster if you have to relog a whole week. It calculates your 70 hr clock and average mph for the day if you choose go enter your mileage. Just all around makes my life easier. You do need to carry a printer with you in the truck in case you need to print logs for the dot but I've only been asked twice for that. Usually I just print the whole week out when I turn my weekly paperwork in.
