Truckers, lets see your rigs!

I wasn't aware cat had threaded inserts. I'm not sure if I'd know the difference.

To be honest I've never used a helicoil before my failed attempt yesterday.

I/we use gardserts. I will add a link tomorrow.

CAT was inserting heads but they are melting everything and going to UTN so there should be no more repairs available for purchase

I called Cat yesterday and they were not able to find any thread repair kit through Cat. This is coming from a very good parts guy.

Sunday I tried a Napa brand thread repair kit and the threads didn't seem to work correctly. So last night I ordered a brand name helicoil kit.

It makes no since to me that both studs have been helicoiled but one hole and threads are much bigger than the other.

I will find them today. They are the style you "stake" in after install. The come from a cat catalogue but are regular over the counter inserts

Got half of my floor lights put in

That's the kit from cat. I forgot to look. Been a crazy day.

And those are the gardserts that I we keep in the shop. I like them more but some dont

Thanks guys.

A friend of my dads is a Cat mechanic and he is looking into the threaded inserts and tools. And we'll see where that takes us.

I'm swapping out my 346 jakes to 349a on my b model. I've got the 4 stands and jakes. Does anyone know what the part number is for the 4 studs. They are a smaller diameter then the ones I have.

I've got one on a truck I'm working on now. It hasn't worked since I've bought the truck and I was thinking about removing it. My question is if I swap out the oil cooler and oil pan will that work or do I need to swap out the bell housing adapter as well?

You're talking about leaving the actual brakesaver in line? If you do decide to pull it, I might be interested in the oil cooler if its off a 3406.

Yea. Just making plates and blocking off where the lines go into it. I thought about rebuilding it but I wouldn't know where to start.
