Truckers, lets see your rigs!

The real story behind that pic is they got caught getting into Mt.Rushmore for a photo shoot and got escorted down.

I've heard they work extremely well. Never been in a truck with one though

The best part is that park rangers are "speshul" enough to ask a stupid question like that

Trucks aren't allowed on the road out of keystone up the the monument? I know there's a truck toll lane but never paid attention to the restrictions

My guess would be that they don't want a truck load of fertilizer making it anywhere within detonation range of a national monument. $.02

Not sure... Just what one of them said and that's all I know. Hell I could have misunderstood completely.

To my knowledge only ammonium nitrate has that ability, and ever since the Oklahoma city bombing that stuff has been classified as hazmat and is highly regulated. Not to mention the fact it has to be mixed with copious amounts of diesel fuel to become explosive.

As a side note, A lot of the coal mines in Wyoming use it to loosen rock so they can excavate the coal beds, mostly because it's cheaper than TNT but also because it works extremely well.

Here are a couple pics of the 3408 getting the out of frame. New pistons and liners, bearings, 2 reman heads so far. The next hurdle is the ìnjection pump filled with rust.

It has not been as bad as I had thought. If I had to guess we don't have much more than $7000cdn into the engine including its purchase cost so far. I will be interested to see what the new p&b's for the injection pump will set us back.

Are you going with a factory style V pump or are you going with an inline 8 cylinder Bosch pump?

Is there even enough room in the valley for an inline 8 cylinder pump?

It still has PC pstons in it so it they will be using the matching nozzle, any direct injection nozzle would require a piston with a bowl in it.

That was a horrible day. And to think the worthless SOB that did it was pulled over a few miles from the house because of a missing/expired tag on his get-a-way vehicle. :bang One enormous win for the OK State Police.

No commercial vehicles allowed in the memorial.. It's posted on all roads leading to Keystone.. Part of the reason is the traffic congestion from tourists with RVs don't need to add in Semis..

Sticking with the v pump. Inline 8 pump would cover a large portion of the intake in the block.

There are people getting mileage out of 3408s comparable with most 3406s, modern gearing has helped that quite a bit.
