Truckers, lets see your rigs!

He has an air to air.

It depends what the build is on that particular charger but it very well could have a carbon seal in the front side. Those are known to fail if you sneeze at them wrong. I certainly would not be surprised if the turbine wheel is burnt up or has seen a foreign object in its day. Doubtful on the carbon seal that late but we have seen some weird chit and CAT part numbers have only proven to determine housing and wheel sizes in those vintage.

Already have the bolts/ nuts and the o-rings for the turbo/90 to intercooler. Yes it is intercooled

Sorry guys, typo its a or-6960. The exhaust temp gets hot,by hot i mean under a pull if i dont watch it, it will jump to 1100 post turbo. The mechanic at the shop it was at said the turbo is "just no good". Said they could place their hand over the charger and it would almost kill the truck and wouldnt even try to suck their hand in.
I just want to watch him kill the engine with his hand!

Also just for $hits and giggles here is the truck. Had a thread for a build on it but lost everything when photobucket started their rampage

Off subject but what the hell is the deal with photobucket? I've been wanting to post some pics from my new job at Cat but no luck.

Here's an update on my clunker. Found a few things and I maxed out the fuel from 1500 to 1900. Egts stay below 900 until 1600 and doesn't go above 960 anywhere. Doing high 6s running 67 most of the time. Lightest load is the one pictured at 40k. Flew up the westbound hill on 90 before billings mt 67 all the way up. Ended up passing an empty bullhauler. Making a wee bit more than 476 to the wheels now ;)

That’s Dan King, I️ think he’s like the president of the Marmon collectors club. Those were the AMC of the big trucks. They’re a mismatch of parts from other truck brands.

So which one would be considered the Gremlin? Always wanted one of them, wonder if I'd like the big truck equivalent!

Not sure which one is equivalent, but have a neighbor that has one he may be getting rid of. A marmon that is m

Putting a bad arse Volvo motor back in overflowing with horsepowers and BFSC’s?
Almost as bad, I had a formula 350 that's going in. Converted it to high flow and that's pretty much it.

Just an update, replaced the charger last night, went from 18psi manifold under a hard loaded pull to 30psi bobtail. Do y'all see anything out of the ordinary on the old charger? No shaft play at all. Got to run a load of bucking bulls in the morning so I'll see how it does under load.

Nothing like a small exhaust housing meant for a 12.7 detroit to make a guy feel good about boost numbers.

I was no turbo expert on big cubic inch stuff so I was gonna keep my mouth shut but that didn’t look right to me.
