Wanted: 8ft bed to fit 2009 Dodge.

Got a new grill on old girl last night. I noticed that the factory had left out two nuts on top and two bolts on the bottom. Not sure why.

Then the gears started turning.

I've always hated filling the truck with the large pumps since fuel won't flow in fast enough. When I was looking at the 2014 bed the other day, I noticed the huge difference in 4th gen filling tubes. I'm going to try to use the 4th gen tubes with out the fuel cap on my 3rd gen.

I took both tubes out of the mounting bezels and found that if I flip a round clearance light boot upside down, it will lock in the hole and around the green plastic inlet. It's uncanny how good that fits. I took the 4th gen assy apart and cleaned it all. I ground the welds off the bracket on the tube that rivets to the plastic bezel. I'll modify it or just add new metal once I figure out the clocking that lines the tubes up with the tank destination once the fender are on. One fender is sanded for paint and the other is not. Dad's hospital ride put a hold on my project.

By adding the fuel door back into the bed in the mega fender and upgrading to this much larger fill tube, I would hope that I can shove fuel in her twice as fast. Not that I want to pay for it, but time is money. I pisses me off to have to click the nozzle on the very first click and wait 15 minutes to fill the truck.

Finally got the DRLs in the headlamps and fog lamps I ordered connected to a Whelen led flasher modules. Turned out pretty nice. If headlights are on as if I were driving at night, the only thing that would be flashing is the cab lights since they have a "cut-out" option from the normal feed. All DRLs in both headlamps and fogs would be on constant. If I park and turn the lights off, then the DRLs will flash. Kind or a safety option really to ensure properly lighting while driving.

Now to work on lighting on the backside. ;)

omg..whats next..gonna just lift the front? ugh..more like a sema truck everyday..cept not as half assed......

Planning on spending a lot of time on the side of the road?

Do I ever plan on it? No. Do I? Yes. I haul several over-width loads during the year getting hay so having the clearance lights dance brings some attention to "GTF over because I'm not going to". I'll help neighbors get cattle off the highway, follow tractors down the highway, etc. Just stuff that needs some attention as folks fly over the hills around here and don't get it shut down in time.

You just really wanted flashing lights didn’t you?:hehe:

Joey, could you do me a favor and take a picture of the inner fenders on your Mega cab box, if you still have it?

I need to figure out what I need for mine. Can’t seem to find anything anywhere for them.

Well....duh. :D

The inner fender panels and mega fenders are an hour away at my dad's body shop. He is sanding and painting them getting ready to put them on this long bed. Not sure when I'll be back up there. His hospital trip slowed us down.

I figure he will have train horns next.:lolly:

Well, I do have a ARB dual rotor compressor mounted. I have yet to mount the 5 gal tank and switches. I have a dual tone off the dump truck I'm going to mount under it...so yes, you are correct, but not trains. I also have a soul piercing back-up indicator from the ambulance I'm going to mount on a switch. When I want to back up and people are loitering back there...they gonna get it. ;)

I say JoEy ought to go with La Cucaracha or Dixie. Should we do a poll?

La Cucaracha...definetly. I was actually just humming that coming down the hallway back to my office just now. :hehe:

In other news, I need to figure out how to get Bus #7 loaded on my trailer to haul the POS home. I just bought it. ;) All I know right now is that it has a cat in it. Maybe someone needs a motor or a bus. :D

Gary can tell you all about them CAT's, can't you?

Let me know if I can help you with anything on the bus side of it.
