So since I can't find any suitcase weights around here, I'm gonna build a box this winter and put base weights and other heavy stuff in there.

How does everybody have theirs pieced together? I want to weld 2 receivers to the frame rails, and build the box on top of the the tubing that will slide in the receivers.

HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS OF MY LAST WEIGHT BOX NOTICE THE ROLLER ON THE BOTTOM IN THE FRONT VIEW AND THE HINGE POINT ON THE 2" TUBING IN THE SIDE SHOT. I DO THIS SO I CAN KEEP MY WEIGHT AS LOW TO THE GROUND AS POSSIBLE AND STILL LOAD MY TRUCK ON THE TRAILER W/ 2000LBS. IN THE BOX. HOPE THIS HELPS GOOD LUCK.

im going to use a single lid diamond plate in bed tool box and build a steel cage inside it and run the mounts through it so i got a nice lid and sides but it will do nothing more than be for show, the structural part will be square tube steel......mount my batteries and all the weights up front......

i got a decent pic of the MiserY truck from the foar pulling up on the scales if you want it Jason????

It needs to be able to pulled off by one person. BBD how much does that new one way?? Looks pretty stout.

I never thought of a diamond plate tool box. I may need to find a nice big one unless I can build something cheaper.

I was thinking of using 6 1/8" plates cut to size and weld them together, then weld it to the framing I have in mind.

LOL. I guess I could borrow the fork lift from work to put it on and take it off.

mines a water box I put it on at the track and fill it there or fill it before I leave for the track. it wieghs like 150-200lbs before I add water about 700 with water. I made weght with it on my ex. cab cummins but I have a reg. cab now so I welded pieces on the back to hols about 700lbs of suitcase weights.

Im in the process of building mine right now. I found an old hydrolic tank of a bulldozer laying around the shop so Im going to run 2 2" tubing off it and then have it slide into recievers. Cut the lid open and then weld angle iron so i can hang suitcase weights in side of it. It will give a better look than weights on a single bracket while still being removable for Daily driving. Plus i can put sponsors on it ;)

Brian Get ahold of some Lead from the scrap yard. If you get bricks, You can load and unload the lead for pulls

I thought of trying the tire places around here and see if they have buckets of old lead weights and melting them into bricks.

Lead can be found from local circle track racers also. The going price seems to be about $1 a pound around here.

They use them for added weight. Seems that every swap meet I go to there is a guy or two selling some.

Tire shops is the best place to find it, most of them will just give it to ya, as long as ya bring their bucket back

Is their any reason U want a box instead of hanging weight? is the reason to maximize the 60" rule? Im just a rookie trying to gain knowledge......
