Weight Box

Is their any reason U want a box instead of hanging weight? is the reason to maximize the 60" rule? Im just a rookie trying to gain knowledge......

I can't fond any suitcase weights, so this is my alternative. Plus those suckers are expensive...Hell for the price of one tractor weight I can get 800lbs of field marking lime, and 600 lbs of shelled corn. Corn might not be a bad idea. Weight in the summer, feed the deer in the winter..Hillbilly?..yes...cost effective yes..do I care? no.

Well I have 12 IH weights. But gonna have to add more weight to the truck next year. And Im not buying anymore of them things. To damn expensive. And the boxes look pretty cool if you make it nice.

Hey Guys you should look on ebay. I bought 10 IH 100lbs. suit case weights here awhile back for $50. A piece. There were only about 60 miles away too.

We got a 1000lb chunk of steel 14"x5 1/2"x3' for $60.00 they cut it out of a big peice that was 7'x6'.from a scarp yard in St.Louis.

If you want tractor weights you need to call around to the tractor dealers. I have bought all mine from there and I got 50 plus of them. The last time I got any was from a Case dealer. Picked up 30 100pounders for $20 a piece. There are plenty of tractor dealers around any area even if you got to travel a little to get em.

I agree I guess if I did not have my rack and weights already I might consider a weight box but I got the hook-up on weights so...............

Check the sig if you ever decide to go with suitcase weights.

And I thought my were expensive. I paid $75 a pair. If I had enough suitcase weights I would stick with them for sure. Thats pretty much last on the agenda for next year though. No rush here.

I got a 1000lb of IH weights for $500.00 for the 2wd.from Ray Gullit 2 years ago.

Truck is around 7k w/ me in it. So around 800-900 considering the box will be around 100 lbs +/-

I don't see any problem using some 2x2 .120 angle for the box itself. Or you could make it out of thicker if you wanted it all just weight in the right spot any ways. I'd just make it so that you can remove it by yourself when empty. for the supports that run out from the frame I would use something else. Just remeber that metal has strength in shape more so then thickness.

I built a box out of 11ga sheet ant no angle iron. I built the bottom front and back out of one piece and bent it. I built the two sides with lips to weld to the others and I built a nice lip for the top to build a lid but have not got to that yet. I have loaded 800# in my biw and it holds fine. I just got 8-100# suitcase weights from a guy here for free so I can ditch the wheel weights

I built mine out of 1/2 steel 5ftw20'tall4'thick it can hold 6 suitcases or a ton of led around 2000lbs if I had that much box it self weights 500lbs

I dont have any close up pics yet. So this is all i can do for now.
