if a guy were to weld a receiver to a plate and mount that where the factory tow hooks are on a 3rd gen. then run 2" tube out say 6" then a piece across the end connecting them to hang about 12-1400 lbs woould tht be too much weight mounted to the tow hooks?

Hot damn!!! You're still working on it. :rockwoot: You ever had it hooked to a sled yet??? You should venture into KY with it in 09 if so. Would love to see it in person again.

Go4LO, that looks real clean. I like it.

Thanks. Total materials were under $300, but we've got some time into it :).

Nice box, by my calculations the water weighs 280 pounds, any idea what the box weighs?

Thanks. The completed box, rails, and hitch tubing together were just under 400 lbs. The plan is to partially fill the box with lead weights to get close to the limit and then use the water for adjustability on different scales.

Mitch, good to hear from you. This year was crazy at work (lots of traveling), so I didn't get a chance to do any of the finish work on it until this month. Need to get a good 2.6 turbo and a guillotine, and we'll hopefully start hitting some pulls in '09. Looks like you've got a new project in your sig - sounds awesome. How's the '02 running?

What organization(s) are you gonna try to run with the truck? It'd be nice to see you venture down into KY this year. Our 2.6 class has the same rules as NADM, and I think the same as ITPA. So most of us from KY, IN and OH should be able to travel between the states pretty freely and be pulling against the same class of trucks. Should be a good season!

Yeah, I hope to get started on the project here in a little bit. The 02 is fine.

The tow hook location will not support that much wieght without a lot of modification to the backer plate that the hooks mount to

well whats the best way to attach a bracket to it where it will hold?

My BFF did the tow hook think, not sure if it will hold 1200 or more, but he ran antwhere from 500 to 700 on it no propblem. I took 2 of the reciever extentions, and welded the to the out side of the from, were the open end faces the ground, then when i build my weight bar, i just 90 it out and then 45 it to where i hang the weight. its pretty tuff, i have put over 1000 on it.

got any pics of it? im just trying to figure something out that will work. im trying to sell my ranchhand and go back to factory bumper so i can hang all 12 weights and keep it under 60". the way it is now i can hang 6 from it but they are past 60

I need to take them tommorrow, i dont have any. Mine i built a little to short cuz i wasnt sure what kind of weight i would end up with. I used a few from a buddy. I could go out another 6'' and even drop them that much, witch i may end up doing

i see what your saying now. i woud really like to it all hooked up

Not cheap, but here is the one I made last year. The box itself weighs in around 500lbs

Got all the sides on. Now just gotta weld it up and weld the mounts on the truck, and paint it.
