What was up with the squealing turbo's at Scheid's?

I think the TS truck (Josh Mosley) makes the sound pretty consistently down the track. I would have to think its not due to a failing part for this long now.

it seemed all the trucks making that sound were all scheid/haisley trucks if im not mistaken

Did the squealing trucks have large turbos bushed down to class size, say 80+ mm inducer bushed down to 2.8"? I wonder if the noise comes from supersonic turbulence when the compressor wheel pushes the air past the speed of sound?

put a tee in your exhaust pipe and mount a train whistle in it...

I assume it must come standard with a Haisley or Schied engine package... LOL

:bangLOL "They go woo woooa" He almost wrecked while he was showing them the sound it makes!

If it happened on Calvins truck, then I don't think it is just limited to Haisley/Scheid trucks. I have noticed the same thing coming off of some of the Super Smoker Semi's("Big Rigs") I was thinking shaft speed as well as a WHOLE LOT OF AIR moving at one time. And as stated above whatever pullers get their chargers to squeel like that seem to run well $.02

given i have ruined two chargers in about 6 runs apiece and heard the 'squeal' i would say it is the charger pullin so much suction either against the bushing, or the filter that the shaft is bendin enough to allow the impeller to hit the side of the housing, the exhaust side bein the worst offender because the intake side twists on the bearing more

but hey who knows

i know of a tractor around here that makes that sound but not at every pull. he runs a turbonetics bb last i knew.

"Some neighbors are saying way too loud..." "Thats only in tha mornin. You spose to be up cookin breakfast or sumthin by then, so its like an alarm clock. WOOOP WOOO"

I think the design of the bushing and where it's located is at least one of the reasons. There are more...

There is a lot of work done at the mainline turbo makers to reduce compressor noise....and I think the hi-po chargers give that back up because no one really cares and everyone will ask about it on the internet. :hehe:
