Burnt piston

Apparently. I freaked over nothing. good deal because i cant really buy pistons right now. LOL
 
Haha it's understandable. Im scared to pull mine, it's running pretty well but has been living at 1200* and up.
 
Mine has seen 2000* a few times before. And above 1300 every other day. Its been my hot rod toy for the last 36,000 miles, its held up pretty dang good in my opinion.

The injectors are another story. jeez
 
I pulled my head to install used some valves I bought from a member on here. The tops of my valve stems are beat pretty good from running high rpm without 60# springs. I have 60# springs now but i ran as high as 3600-3800rpm without them IIRC. So in the process im looking at my pistons and cylinder walls. and noticed something a little goofy about number 3? Ive searched through several melted CR's pics an 12 valves and really haven't found what I'm looking for.

Is this bad?

Edge of #3 looks a little suspicious. So far its the only piston like that.

Looks just like my pistons did, clean them up and see if it is just carbon.
 
Spence, not trying to be a dick, but seeing those EGT's at your power level would indicate that you need to address a few things.

Ive addressed things since I saw the 2000* and egts have slowed down a lot. I saw 2000 like twice. and that's about it. I got a slightly bigger turbo, and advanced the timing. The hottest ive gotten it since the turbo and timing is 1800ish, and that was 115ish mph. It really doesn't go over 1400 anymore. Unless I am 100mph and up.

And the thin air up here makes egt's wild to begin with.

Yeah, I've played around with it a bit... It's fast but I can't tell if it as fast as that last motor... The extra weight from the mono's may have slowed it down just a hair... Not to mention the stock 03 head I had to use.. I really wished I could've afford to have it ported and polished and had a good valve job done. Oh well!

I've not made a pass or dyno'd yet... I've been showing Major restraint!!

I did hand out a nice A$$ whoopin to a brand new Porsche 911 Twin Turbo though... He had to have been like "WTF"!!!! And he got pulled over just afterwards going at least 100 mph....LOL

I'm currently waiting on a different set of tips though...

You're supposed to pull them over if they beat you. Thats just being a sore winner.
