14mm p-pumps

once dated a girl from around your parts

she thought "everything was big in texas"

before we met

It does not matter if you are running a P7100 14mm, P8500 14mm or a Sigma, if the injectors are not sized right and the injection lines are not large enough, excessive hydraulic loading will stick plungers. Other things that excessive hydraulic loading causes is camshafts, lifters and bearings will fail as well.
A engine fitted with a 14mm pump had better be built to handle or use such fuel.

I have seen 12/13mm pumps fail because injectors were sourced from someone that does not work with injection pumps and has never done the research to make the sizing correct. This is also true when guys buy injectors off of sites like Ebay or Internet store fronts that have no idea what they are selling, have no shop, have done no research but they always BS you into thinking they know what they are doing. Thanks

Truer words have never been spoken and I'm talking about this guy(me) have made a few of those mistakes.

well apparently drag racing a bike makes you an expert in diesel fuel injection, so why bother warning him... LOL I'm on my way to get my AMA license right now!

Apparently the mental capacity to type on an internet forum grants you the same insight...so why don't you enlighten us on the ins and outs of 14mm pumps?

Before you make an attack on me for calling you out on constantly ribbing Don on his ideas, explain why you are obsessed with his ideas and thinking.

He may not need a 14mm pump, but I doubt you know enough details of his build to make that call.

He also may have a crazy idea with moving the return fitting location, but he isn't going to hurt a darn thing by trying it...

Don may come off wrong in some posts I'll agree, but a couple minutes on the phone with him will clarify a lot of things. He's trying to learn as much as he can as fast as he can, so he can build a good running rig and build it right the first time...I respect that and hope he does build something that will help push the sport forward :Cheer:

Sorry for the rant, I am beyond sick of everybody on here griping and nay-saying any new ideas...especially from newbies...I have been the stupid newbie and also mouthed the newbies, but luckily I quickly learned that giving them good info rather than smart remarks is more beneficial for everyone

and from the sound of things 14mm might not be a big p-pump anymore

anyone care to elaborate?

Just throwin this out there, maybe everyone knows about them...

But the other day i was searching around and found a site selling 16mm P+Bs for the p7100.

I bet that would move some fuel...

from what I understand the P7100 is not structurally big enough to support 16mm P&b's it ends up with too much flex and things go awry, not to mention those plungers and barrels you mentioned are made in china...

whats not made in china? anymore its hard to get away from a place i've never been....two words explain the place "cheap labor"

You can get ANY kind of quality you want out of china. The reason they get a bad rap is because of the cheap bastards on this end of the world trying to save a buck and line their pockets....

Not saying those 16mm P+Bs are any good, just that you cant knock them for where they are made

true enough I guess, now that I think about it I have seen a couple quality things come out of china, I believe the factory was in china but American owned.

back to topic, I don't know anyone that has had good luck with the 16MM P&B's in a P7100, there could be someone, but I don't know them or know OF them either.

Crap man!!!

I am sitting here thinking that the 13mm pump mod going on to my truck was a giant leap in fuel. What in Zues's butthole do you need 16mm worth of fuel to do???? Drag racing while pulling a sled? Some sort of diesel fusion reactor?

LOL

I wonder what kind of max fuel you can move with the 16mm p+b's... Probably enough to fuel 3 b5.9s @ 1000hp each :hehe:

nah, it'd be more fun to see 3 of them sitting side by side all fed by a single pump :D
