$50,000 Purse for a Diesel Race!!

That would mean you out ran 30 ????

out of 100, I bet I could or close. I would be counting on the 30 to be much heavier than 6K too

Trentnell, I'm not whining or complaining, the rules were set. Only pointed out a few things that doesn't make this a race for every low budget racer.

Say this all comes to fruition, and you get the 100 trucks all paid and all the money is paid back to the top 16 racers who qualify. Who pays for the track, prep, safety vehicle and insurance for the day, or do you think the spectator fees will cover that?

Subman, as of right now the only thing I may have to pay out of my pocket is the insurance for the days. 100 percent of the fee's collected are going to the racer. That is what Jeff and I decided, I'm working with the track manager as we speak and we may be able to cover those cost with spectator money. I do have tentative dates that are going to be Feb.25 and 26th. Not set in stone, but that looks like our dates. All this *****ing about turbo rules makes me dizzy. Are they not fair enough? Gary

I don't think for me the question is if they are fair. From my perspective, I have drag raced for almost 15 years, bikes, cars, and now diesels. I have only spectated at one sled pull, never even set one foot on a track. The rules are not that clear to me when it comes to protrusion and what not. Can I build a custom cover and wheel for my 88mm, as long as it is clipped and squeezed to 66mm. I really love this idea and will most likely do it either way. However, I did not get a response about my conversion. DT360 in a Ford. And maybe to answer for others how about the 4bt conversions out there are they clear as well.

What needs to be understood about using the Scheid set of rules, is that a clipped 80mm will be in the same class as a unmodified 66mm. There is a better way to go about it, and keep on point with the general premise or ideal of this race, which I like.

I think you will find that some people who think they can do that in a drag race situation will find some bitter disappointment.

Ha, I hear you, but you would have to expect that with what is at stake. There are a ton of guys very capable of thinking way outside the box with that amount of money going to the winner.

Reminds me a bit of when I use to put on a little golf tournament when I was a working stiff. It started to be a friendly get together with low entry fees and a little trophy going to the winning team. I added some hole in one insurance for a new car and that was still OK, event started to grow, then I got Hawaiin Airlines to give me 4 free round trip tickets to Hawaii from Anchorage and a week stay at a place on the north shore for the winning team, and things got deadly serious. Took all the fun out if it.

Been some perdictions on what type of vehicle will have the advantage. I perdict there will be some rather heated exchanges as well. Maybe even some cans of wupp ass opened.

Have you guys thought about getting professional video coverage of the event and then you can contact SPEED or ESPN or whomever is interested, to sell them the footage? I'm sure somebody would be interested in airing this race coverage! This could generate additional money which could help fund upcoming races. I know this has been done with alot of other non-mainstream sporting events.

Jeff and I talked about doing a live video stream of the event for the people that could'nt come. If you have some expertise in this area we are willing to explore it. As of right now we are just going to keep promoting this race. We feel it is the right thing to be doing and had no idea it would progress to this level. I think the rule's are fair as they stand, and would make a very interesting race. If all goe's well we are thinking of doing the same type of race with a different set of trucks. If it turns to shizzit, we won't do anymore. Accept what we request, and let's go racing. Gary

We can handle a live stream if the track has a decent connection Gary.

For all the guys whining about not competing cause their truck this or their truck that, remember that the racers must also go rounds... it has to be reliable and consistent and the driver has to cut a light and win the race to move on. Yes it might be hard to qualify but anyone who makes the top 16 will be able to walk away with the cash!!! Reliability will be a big factor!!!

Guys, Sorry I've not been on much today....Freakin Town has Lost it's F'ng minds!!

Done nothing but take calls, write reports, and take folks to jail today!!! UGH!!

Anyway, Gary seems to be doing a good job of answering questions but I know theres a few that have not been answered...

As to the conversion DT360, I'll have to check or Gary / Jeff can chime in when they have time...

Smokem, I know there's always a better way to do things and I see your points... But at this point since we're about 2 days, and 17 PAGES into it, I guess we need to run with what we got...

Thanks for everyone's concern's and comments though!!

fergit all the turbo crap fer a second...this is nhra track?? how many trucks out of the 100 that yer hoping show will have the safety requirements to run 1150 or faster..
ive been thrwon out of this track in my streetcar lots of times for no cage. loops/curent belts/helmets/overflo containers/etc etc..the list goes on...what about air shutoffs..the gas cars must have a disconnect to run 1150 or better. im guessin theres a few guys out there that can run fast enuf to git thron out..500 bucks down the chitter for not having a cage or a shutoff and failing tech aint gonna go over well.
i wont be racing but im wondering what the tech rules are gonna be far as safety..

just thinkin out loud gary..i like the idea..id be sure to come support it...but all this pissin and moaning bout the trubo aint fer **** if ya cant run as fast as ya can cuz ya got outdated seatbelts or helmet...anyone addressed the blo by tubes?? typically the staging guy will wanna look if hes seeing drips or smokin...you know how bradenton is

gary

The 100 racers will have about 5-months to get their stuff in order before they show up to race... If they don't get their stuff together and cant pass tech or try to cheat they should loose their $500... sounds simple to me!

I do like the idea that someone mentioned a few pages back, of adding the 3 qualifying times together to get the top 16 qualifiers. This will put even more emphasis on reliability and weed some of the one-hit wonders out of the heard!!!

where does NHRA say anything about an air shutoff? you also dont need a battery disconnect till you go 9.99 or 135mph if your battery is in the stock location.

Pretty sure it said must meet NHRA rules for times ran....the tow people putting this race on are all about safety, AFAIK;);) I know one is...he made me make him a promise about safety items on my truck...

Love to come watch...but I really doubt I'd be putting a truck in the field...
Chris
