62/71/13ss vs. 66/71/13ss, why is there a difference in lag

Tyler if this doesnt get you above 500hp then I dunno what will. But we will for sure rag you about it.

Oh I still got a trick or two left up my sleeve. This fight ain't over yet.

Is the race to 500 hp still on? I've just about given up on my 24 valve truck, ever since I got my 95' Junker Drag Truck it takes all my free time.

I have a better clutch since last time I dyno'd maybe that's all I need for the 0.8 left to get over 500. Then again, my truck may have caught a nasty case of BBS and I could be under 400.

I'm dynoing on the 24th of Oct. First dyno since the cam, 200hp injectors, SO VP, 66 turbo, different ADR tune, water/meth, and by then ill have a new air filter and possibly new air intake system so we'll see what happens. I'm damn sure throwing everything I've got at it this time around.

I can't say about the 62 vs 66 compressors but my stock 57 wheel weighs 114.26 grams and the 60mm hybrid wheel weighs 141.49 grams.

just out of curiousity what are the wheels on turbos made of? Like say on a HTT or phat shaft? I hear precision turbos are taking over the truck and tractor pulling scene. I'd love to updgrade to a bigger single but i cant stand what little lag my 62 has so i dont really want anymore! My 62 is a little small for ddp comps and the juice

Muddin, drive pressure is ~50psi at 46-47psi of boost.

Yoshi, my 62 doesn't have much lag at all. At least not to me. Even before my cam. And those injectors and that juice shouldn't be to much for that 62. My 150's and ADR cleaned up nicely.

compressor wheels are usually an aluminum alloy, and turbine wheels Inconel

there are some titanium comp wheels

Well my 62 has very little lag as well just the little it does i cant stand because your just blowing smoke everywhere but you think a 62 should be able to clear up 250s and the juice? Everyone said i was crazy but so far i cant complain one bit.

Got the 66 put on today. Got the back plate machined, wheel swapped, everything balanced, everything cleaned, and new seals for $175. Thanks goes out to John at Majestic turbo. This turbo has 50k+ miles on it and the thrust washer and journal bearings looked brand new.

As for spool up, it's definitely slower but it's not bad. I can't give a good comparison because I sent my ADR off yesterday to be worked on so I'm running on sticks only and 2, I've only put maybe 3 miles on it since I've done it. Stupid austin traffic and school zones. I honestly don't see a problem spooling this thing once I get the box back on but time will tell. I definitely wouldn't want to run this thing without a cam. I think once I get the ported manifold on and the turbo and manifold blankets on this thing will spool up just fine.

I'll keep yall updated.

Make sure you have a functional Adrenaline before you dyno. I'm tired of living in your shadow. It's time for the original Big Blue to put up some serious dyno numbers so people quit comparing my truck to yours.

glad eveything worked out good for your Tyler! i almost miss the 66 wheel....nah! this super 62/68/13ss is going to be awsome!

Wes

bb24, that's why I sent it off. At the last 2 dynos the curves and power were the exact same no matter what power levels I was on and on the street I'm only picking up 5psi of boost and 200* of egt's from level 0 to level 10. I'm making sure I give my truck the best chance possible. And you will always live in my shadow. LOL

Wes, so far so good. I'm hoping to have my ADR back tomorrow or thursday so I can really tell how this thing is going to run. I really and truly don't think it'll be that bad.

As the truck sits now I'd be happy to make 150hp. LOL This thing is no fun to drive with no box. Even with the 62 it sucked to drive with no box.

One thing is for sure, I could pass the strictest emmissions possible now. This thing runs freaking clean. A lot cleaner than it did with no box and the 62.

My brother got to take his truck on its maiden voyage today. He has 04.5 with 90hp sticks & Smarty, just switched from 62/71/13ss to Silver Bullet. He had bad rings on #1,5 & 6 pistons before. The Bullet lights just as fast as the 62 did & he is running the truck on stock programming.
