What are your boost numbers? Between stages and overall.
You have to use your truck everyday from what I understand. It is worth it to run 12.00s with the extra possible parts breakage from the extra power? What are your EGTs at WOT?
The boost numbers seem in line with what most guys run. I ran the 18 housing on several 40's back in the day. Man, that was 8 years ago. LOL It was laggy compared to even the 16 gated version. Do you have a 16 laying around? The 40 is fine for low 12's, high 11's with a B2 and 7's.
Did you go to the track since the injector tweaks?
Does the trans drag out the shifts?
Steve's truck is a freak, just runs great. I'm in the same boat as you Lavon, trying to hit 12.0s with a vp truck. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason. Best Tim B ever did was 12.4's on fuel with his old vp truck. Best I've done so far is 12.5's, that was with Tim's old 6's and a single.
What are your 1/8 mile times and mph?
I can't remember if you did a leak down test or over all cylinder pressure test? If not, the excessive blow-by could indicate the rings are shot.
12 valve
Of course how long have I been trying to do the same thing??:hehe: :hehe:
Chris
I never did a compression check... It would be interesting to see how it checks out... do you have a gauge we could use?
Now if I did what you did and ran 14's I think I'd be looking for a 24V... LOL
Chris driving a VP truck... Now that would be funny!!! but hey, at least you could make it go 12's just given you hang...
What RPM does your trans shift at? 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4? Are you using on OD switch? What RPM are you running through the lights at? Are you locking up the converter as soon as it hits 2nd, or sometime after it goes into second? Single or triple disk converter?
You should have enough fuel for a 12.00. I don't have much experience with an HX40 in a twin set, but by your boost numbers and what you saw on your drive pressure gauge, I would think you have enough air. Does the smoke clean up after launch, and run smoke free down the track? You should see just a haze of brown (not black), smoke going down the track.
Paul
BTW, I have a compression gauge, but no 24v adapter Actually, let me look, I might actually have the adapter too!
Chris
its been said that a hot rod pump and mach 4's are similar fuel to SO pump and mach 6's. but anything after 600 is usually made by SO pumps. Not saying that Hot Rod's don't do it but many SO pumps have made 650HP.
Lavon
For what it's worth, I made 658 with a hrvp..
Smoke is clean just a haze after launch...
