Toby, here is my take, not that it matters.

I feel bad about the way I handled the situation on Gogo, and that is the most sincere I can be. I regret continuing down a thread with personal attacks, and really have no excuse. I through the first insult, and when challenged further, instead of backing off, I continued to give, what I was given, and for that I am truly sorry. What got/gets my goat is when someone demands respect. The way I was brought up, and the way I see it is like this.

There are a few people I have to respect, those are my parents, my wife, my son, my family, and well GOD! There are a whole bunch more I choose to respect. That list is much, much longer, and include my friends, the professionals I work with, law enforcement, (most of them), those that have gone before me, and broken ground in the things that I respect, Chuck Yeager, and Lindberg in aviation. Those that have and are working to improve the lives of everyone through research. The men and women in uniform that are protecting my ass. Guys in this business who have quietly proven themselves with a thunder at the track, guys like Keating, Morrison, the TS gang, Gene, (weweld), stuckey, ETC.............(this is by no means a complete list). Then there are those that I don't consider at all, not saying that in a negative way, just that I do not know them and for the most part they do not influence my life positively or negatively......the guy in the line in front of you at starbucks, the girl at the gym on the treadmill......etc.....etc....

Then there are those that I do not respect, at the top of that list are people that demand respect. You have to earn respect, its not a guarantee. Someone saying, (or implying) "you better respect me" just because they want my respect, too f'in bad. Give me a reason to respect you, and I will. Show me a reason not to, and I will not. I respect you as an acquantance, and show you that respect, because although I have never met you you present yourself in a "respectable" manner. (Most of the time, LOL).

What I do respect about this kid is that he stands up for himself. He did not back down, and I honestly believe as I have said before that he believes he is making that kind of power, because he has been told he is by someone he looks up to. I respect that in his pictures he he appears to be having a great time,a nd obviously loves what he is doing. He looks like he is hanging out with family and friends, and is doing well at the track.

WHat I don't respect is his attitude towards everyone else, and the fact that his claims are so far off base that they are an insult to those who are making, and have made those numbers that he claims. I do not respect the fact that he agrees to prove himself, but then only agrees to prove himself with the rediculous rules that he stated. I don't respect the fact that he wants to only race on the street, (I know we differ opinions here, but there is a huge difference in street racing, and hauling ass after a light, or accelerating in traffic, or mashing the pedal to get in front of other traffic. There is a huge difference in 60-80 to 80-100+). I don't respect the fact that he demands respect for his claimed number, when all indications appear it to be false. He has run very respectable track times, but far short of that which could back up his 755 HP number.

I'll wrap up now. He will get the respect due to him should he man up and prove his claims. I will not disrespect him, (and regret much of what I said to him) again. Prove me and the masses wrong, and I will be the first to eat crow,a dn apologize. That would be giving the respect that would be earned. Continue along the same path, and he will get the respect that he currently deserves.

Yeah, I called him and told him it was Dalpilot, you know the nut swinger. He used a few fancy words that I didn't understand, and then asked if I was willing to put up 50K that the kid can make 755. I told him, Hell no, what idiot would risk 50K on something that stupid. I think we both agreed the kid believes he has 755, and has a dyno that says it. I think we both were in agreement that 755 WITH THE MODS ADVERTISED was unattainable. He asked, well what if? I asked, hey are you willing to wager 100K I can't walk accross the lake. He laughed, I think he farted, and garbled a few things then I had to hang up. I have time for Toby, even though he still doesn't believe that I was calling him from Texas because it was a 512 area code. I tried to explain that 512 is central Texas, but apparently I and 1.5 million other central Texans are wrong.

With the invention of the cellular phone, you can have any area code, and be anywhere.. With the invention of the VoIP communications, you can be even farther then cell networks will take you with the same number. Heck, you can take American cell that work on GSM and run them from Europe can call with American numbers. If you have access to your own PBX and trunking stuff, you can set your caller ID number to what ever number you choose. A friend of mine would call from "0000000000" all the time. People in Minneapolis get calls from Metro Detroit all the time when I make phone calls.

So in a nut shell, the area code is pointless. Welcome to number portability.

you can only run an american GSM phone on european networks if its tri, or quad band and then only if one of those bands is compatible with european GSM where you happen to be at the moment (ive seen soem strange setups that would basically only work in america and east asia) and THEN only if your phone is unlocked (and if you want to use a pre-paid SIM THEN only if its not SIM locked :) ). ive done it plenty of times but unfortunately i had a friend try it and his phone was one of the stupid azz 850 (an [essentially] america only GSM frequency ... i think its cingular that uses it?)
you can indeed use VOIP to have almost any number - you certainly dont need BPX or trunking hardware to change your number....theres plenty of software out there for that. Even if there wasnt, most non dedicated VOIP calls come in from a strange number anyway, one that would certainly make you think international at the least.

that said - most people dont go to the trouble, and area codes are - i find - generally useful.

But the difference is that he had all the supporting mods.....He wasn't claiming his 833 horse or whatever it was with just a set of injectors, nitrous and a stock trans......
 
The problem with situations like this is everybody who responds has very strong feelings. The people who work on the 6.0 alot know the hp number he is claiming is not possible. The person claiming it truely believes he has the power. The more you post about it the more the feeling get hurt and thus nobody gets anywhere. When people are this far off it is very funny. I just read and laugh. Then I laugh at all the people who trying to straighten him out. Not at them, but imagining how they must feel like they are banging their heads against the wall. There are a few things I don't like discussing with people, religion, politics and how much power their 6.0 powerstroke makes.

Im not saying i am beilveing him. Also i am not saying i dont beileve him. U never know what is possible now days. Now do u have my doubts?? While i sure do. But W1cked has proved me and many other members on the board wrong. So i dont wanna get into this debate again:badidea:
