8.3L Cummins Transplant

we just find a small screw that fits into the oil hole and grind the head down enough to clear the block. use the crank to roll the old one out and then the new one in.

Very educational for novices like myself.

New mains and thrust are IN! Super easy I must say.

End play is now around .005". I don't have a dial but using a flat gauge, the .004" will slide in easy, the .005" one will go with resistance, and the .006" won't go at all. Super deal since the spec is .005-.013.

Shows some wear but not horrible I wouldn't think. These are the three worst sets....didn't keep track of which position they came out of though.

Is in running yet!!!! :stab::stab:

Hells bells, Mike. Spent Sat working calves, then fixed the last fence the rains destroyed this spring, spent Sun moving a hot fence and fixing a water gap, spend Mon night forming up a wash-pit and a feed room floor in the new pig barn, ....... I got enough projects. I just made time last night after dark to make some progress. I still need to torque the caps, but they are all in and ready to tighten down.

So why do these things hammer the thrusts out? Poor design?

Not sure about this particular motor since it was an irrigation pump, but on-road trucks usually loose the rear thrust since every pound of clutch spring rides on the rear plate. And that is about the extend of my understanding. Hopefully I can get back to it in the next week or so. Got lots to do. Going to try to make NHRDA in Tulsa this weekend as well.

Yes! :D

Just received a care package from Jeffersonville Ohio. Can't wait to get home and open it up. It squatted the Dodge a bit when we set it down. :evil

I'll save the crate for anything let over that is going back North. ;)

I'm not sure how much fan stuff I threw in there....I might have forgot. I have a couple more parts engines here if you didn't get what you need.
