I'm having my guys pull a couple starters off today so I can see if I have a good used one off one of these other engines.

I got a starter for a sae 2 if Chris doesn't have one.. and find someone to by my compressor. Lol

I guess I'll need a starter. This one is definitely not going to work. My neighbor and I turned a spacer on the lathe this weekend to correct the pilot hole problem, but there is a bigger issue. When the starter is mounted, it is already engaged in the fly wheel. The nose on this starter is too long. It can't retract out of gear far enough.

The next thing I learned was that this thermostat housing Chris sent me won't work either....but I'll probably just wait until it is all mounted up in the truck to tackle that issue when I see which direction it needs to go. Probably have to make something for this too.

New gasket fits the new housing but not the block.

Difference in the housing that was on it.

I also got a little bored waiting on the head so I stripped all the paint off the injector lines so they look somewhat moar prettier.

Jim was VERY helpful. LOL

Now....I have to contend with this effin schidt first......it almost rolled on me yesterday. I was scared schidtless for a few seconds.

Downhill with a bale and losing a wheel is not my idea of Sunday-Funday.

Hasn't that happened before?

I think I found you a starter. Stay tuned.
Chris

Sweet. Yes. This is the fourth knuckle I've broke in 10 years.

Got a guy bringing me a complete 8 bolt front end to Dyno For Dex 4 so I'll put a new AR55179 spindle on this one then sell the front end complete when I get the new junk with larger parts and better rims. I think I need to start moving bales across the pasture with a 3-point attachment then using the loader to put them in the feeders and stop cross-country hauling them on the loader. ;(

Worthington Ag Parts currently has the best price on the AR55179 at $135.00.

Worthington Ag is the place to go!! I was actually thinking about selling that 8 bolt front end to them or the other tractor grave yards up here till you needed it. Lol

I sure appreciate it. I'll use the moneys from selling this one to buy new tires and tire rods and bearings....but I doubt it covers it. I hope it has tie rods on it 'cause I had to chop mine off to narrow them up. LOL

Its complete just less the actual tractor mount and steering mount.

Going by the little loader your most likely overloading the tractor. Looks to be in decent shape for that series of Deere. Wish the hood on my family's 3010 loader was that nice. 30yrs of farm work and junking cars has destroyed three hoods.

Overloading heck no not for a 4020 lol. The front axles on these tractors were never built heavy enough. 4430 front end and bingo no more breako, we never had anything bigger or heavier on our farm, never broke anything with our loader and 4020.

Never seen a 120 loader on a 4020 before. Camera angle and the little loader made me think it was something like 2010/20. those must be some solid bales to break the spindle that way.

Yeah I can see what your saying about the angle. Lol. Deere just plain made the spindles light on those things, we never broke our 4020s factory front end, twisted the spindle and upright shaft bad!!!

Of course we never had a loader on our factory wide front either, just the heavy 30 series front end

I keep meaning to get back to you jory but book face only half azz works on my phone. Let me clear some PMs so I can get back to you. I have an H1E at the shop in really good shape you could have for next to nothing if you need a replacement as well. Some of the older small frame holset stuff just doesn't sell for me.
