95' Junker Drag Truck

I did some more testing today on a closed course.

I still only have one boost gauge connected to monitor overall boost, so I haven't tuned in the wastegate yet but I'd guess it cracks around 26 psi. On a 0 to 115 MPH run, I see 75 psi boost.

The power is much more linear than the GT4294 single turbo setup. From a dead stop, it will start spinning about halfway through first gear as the boost gauge registers about 10 psi boost and within a second boost hits 30-35 psi and hovers for about a second till the big primary turbo lights and then it's off to 75 psi.

As far as power, it doesn't feel significantly stronger or weaker than the single GT4294, however the "linear" power is pretty deceiving so until I go to the track and see my trap speed, I won't know how much more power the twins are putting down. I've made a few adjustments to the rear suspension and it seems to hook up much better with the street tires. Before it would still spin uncontrollably at 60 MPH, now, once I hit 45 MPH it will hook up and go. I do have about 150 extra pounds in the bed and it just rained so the roads are clean so that might help with traction.

With the smoothness of the power delivery from the twins and the added traction from suspension modifications, I think this truck will run somewhere between 12.2 to 11.9. It's definitely not an 11.5 second ride right now so I probably won't need a cage for the upcoming event.

Once I get everything dialed in, my next power modification is going to be the installation of full-cut delivery valves to replace the current DDP 042 delivery valves.

LOL
Seems like it's well on it's way to 11's!

nice twins! iv been waiting to hear some feedback on them, i have been thinking about a bigger primary and more fuel.

your running 5x.018's correct?

My closed course didn't have a roof, heck, even the speedway for the Nascar event next week doesn't have a roof. It's Vegas, it never rains here! The only problem with this state is day they changed the speed limit from "reasonable and prudent" to 75 MPH.

Correct, 5x.018 VCO that idle remarkably clean, similar to my Marine 4x.013's in my 98' as far as idle haze when cold.

Unless you are cleaning up all the smoke, I wouldn't swap to full cuts. WAY too dirty for what they add.

I'm sure someone will argue with me, but that's been my experience.

All of my recent testing has been at night so I'm not sure if it's cleaning up all the way or not. I've been told there are ways to clean up dirty DV's via modifications to the delivery valve springs but in all honesty, I'm more concerned with going fast right now than cleaning up all of the smoke. I hate it when hot trucks make a pass at the track and leave so much smoke you can't see the time, but other than that, a little smoke at the track (closed course) never hurt anyone. On the street, I totally agree, smoke is ridiculous and unacceptable.

do you have a line lock on it

Not yet, but I've been price checking them on ebay, summit, etc.

I wonder if there is a way I could run a power lead to one of the ABS pump wires and get it to release pressure to the rear brakes. This truck has rear-only abs and I read that the pump has the ability to add pressure, release pressure, or do nothing and act as an open passageway. I only see three wire going to the pump so I'm going to experiment a little and see what I can come up with for free, before I spend money on a $75 line lock and another $25 on fittings.

Well Full cuts with 5x.018's = welcome to the club;)

I would suggest the competition style delivery valves from sdx. They do smoke but from what i've been told work way better than full cuts and fuel within 95% or so of them. I have never run full cuts but have run almost every other dv combination out there and these are by far my favorite for street and strip.

he's got the full cuts already, I suggested those valves but cut by someone else for cheap ;)

He is king of finding cheap stuff I believe! lol

Amazing thread Big Blue24:clap:. Ive only read the last two pages, but ive really enjoyed them. Now I have to read from the start :).

full cuts are very dirty, i ran them , but would love to try a set a sdx comp style valves.

getting 5x.018's to idle clean is impressive, my 5x.014's haze bad in the morning and still a little when its warm.....i'd love to get rid of that

yea, i was thinking more like a 7x.012 , smaller holes = better atomization

anyways, back on topic! get that thing out and lets hear some real results!

It's NASCAR weekend here in Vegas, drag strip is closed.

Looks like I'll be running on March 11th and 12th with an untested setup.
