Are the 6.4 really that bad?

I towed alot of miles with a 08 F-350 and a 10 F-450 on the 300 and 310 spartan tunes but I knew what I was doing and never had a problem. But, theres people that can tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet lol

SO TRUE! LOL

when we did the thermostats on my truck, I poured a bunch of water out of the intercooler because I drive my truck super easy 99.9% of the time

Personally I would only tow on the easy H&S tunes. you get the benefit of the factory shifting schedule. The H&S schedules are great for drag racing and work fine for daily driving empty. Buddy of mine tows on the 250 tune all the time. I wouldn't recommend it! LOL

My ex boss leaves his spartan on 275 on his dually and tows :hehe::hehe:

2008 6.4 vs h&s at 80k miles. U guess it. Wrong setting plus camper. Blew head off otherside

Common sense ain't common any more. I think its cool that they have an egt sensor from factory that can be monitored via obd2.

The piston design kinda sucks but still hold up to allot of abuse I cracked some.pistons in my crew cab but they were small. Was able to put machined pistons in it for the white truck...makes me.want to take the new engine in my crew cab and cut them too.

Doesn't International have a revised/updated piston design?

Yes. When I cut my pistons I just mimicked the international version. I have a couple contacts on the international ones way cheaper than you can walk in and get a set.

Yes that can happen.. but chances are that truck is pushing 500-550 max.. looks like she popped a rod.. same thing the other last 2 6.4s did that were in the shop. lets say.. if I had a 600hp 6.4 i would be walking on egg shells when I beat on it.

ive had one for 4 years way over 600... no egg shells here. and yeah, its kinda easy to confuse popping a rod with blowing a head gasket. :hehe:

I tow heavy with the Kem 345 all parameters look good.. Seriously unless they made major improvements on the high back pressure from the spartan tunes, I Will never load a spartan tune again.

Didn't that truck drive home after that? Someone posted that vid somewhere, maybe on PSA, and the owner or someone that knows him said the truck drove home after it sat for a bit

Yeah it was the head gaskets that did it drove home after letting it sit.

i work at a ford dealership and commom failures i see are camshafts and high pressure fuel pumps....granted these are f-550s in stock form

We had a 6.4l run away in a school bus today. It blew the tips off 5 injectors and id guess it melted some stuff too. Not sure why yet its under warranty and international is trying to blame us saying we didnt bleed the air out of the fuel system when we changed the fuel filters. We will see.... This is definately a fluke

how would not bleeding the fuel filters have anything to do with it running away. i could definaltly see a hard start issue but running away nah
