Calling Chris Watson

Duramax That engine brought on the whole diesel revolution. I don't care what anyone says, but diesels were a joke before the duramax.

Really ? You're not joking are you ?

No disrespect to the DMax's...but to say the Duramax brought on the "diesel revolution" is laughable at best.

Does anybody know if he will be able to load a custom full pull tune on the truck?

Diesels were a joke before the Dmax? Hardly. 1994-98.5 Dodge pickup trucks equipped with the P7100 brought on the diesel movement. The 6.5/6.3L..please? The 7.3L....better than the 6.5/6.2Ls. The Dmax is a great engine, yes, but you've got to be kidding me bud. How many firsts and bests does the 6.6L have compared to a P7100 powered 5.9L?

why dont you make a list of the first for P7100 5.9 in another thread bryce.

first for what light duty truck maybe.... all it is is a scalled down med/hd duty engine... with scroll mettering pump and PT stop style injectors. :bang

i am sure there are several of us that can match out out number the BT5.9 block and head.

just about an I6 engine dodge, gm ford were/are still bullet proof..

If im not mistaken... the first common rail was the cummins... back in 2000 or so they came out with it and was sold in Europe. Correct me if im wrong though!!!

I mean the CR came out in 2000 or so and was sold in Europe... not the US untill 03.... i think thats wright???

I realy don't know all that mumbo jumbo ISBdnhggejjsnnfjujiuruhsks stuff!!! LOL It's either a 12v,24v or a CR.... so much simpler!!!

D-max released the first CR to the US I believe but I have heard about the CR Cummins in europe before the D-Max was released could be rumor though. All of the Big 3 are responsable for the Mainstreamization <(just made that word up I think) by saying the 6.5 and 6.2 where pioneers is uhh not real accurate if it wasn't for the 6.5's we wouldn't know how not to build a motor, IMO man I hope my hummer doesn't break down now that I said that. but all 3 of them made huge leaps and bound in tech to put us where we are today.

Nice build lets see what she can do I would sure like to see a pic though as I am sure many of us would. I can't see why the GM boys are bashing this so much. Who cares if he is usein a tried and true injection system that the Sheep boys have been runnni for years and dominateing, I am lost I for one suport the build and want to see what it can do. *bdh*

Yeah... i agree!!! I like the new word.... Ill use that some day!!! :rockwoot:

In the early 60's DodgePowerWagon had Perkins 354 none turboed diesels in them.

It will be great to see this come together, but if your gonna put a mechanical system on it, and it be a V8 wouldn't the 7.3 be the route to go, or can you get more cubes out of the 6.6? Are the heads that much better on the Dmax? Seems to me v8 to v8 I would go with the powerstroke. I am betting Double OT will be out this year with even more HP than last year.

I agree, No replacement for displacement though I would assume if its a custom one off block I highly doubt its gonna be a 6.6.

Double overtime is going to be a force for sure next season. Besides the bounce n hop last season when it hooked look at the results!!!

Imho the reason a CR motor can not run with the mechnical pumps yet is because no one has tryed to put the time and money into them. I think in the furture we will see alot of strong cr ( Ford, Chevy, Dodge, ) running in mod class and will do well. All we will need is a injector that will flow the fuel and hold the pressure, And a motor that will handle some high rpms. Then again maybe im missing alot of key factors.

On a side note i do think its bad a$$ that someone is building a dmax like this. Cant wait to see the dyno numbers and how it does in the coming season.

Sorry to bring banks in here, but the sidewinder dakota started development in 1999 and that had a Cummins/ Holset provided Common Rail Engine and a Variable Geometry Turbo ......:kick:

And also I honestly CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE THIS!! Will it be done for TS? Indiana? Nudmidia?

Please forgive my ignorance to the sled pulling world, but if one was going to send all of the time and money to convert an engine to an 8 cylinder p-pump, why stat with a duramax?

It seems to me a BBC would be a better foundation for an all out competition engine. Bigger cubes, more parts available, better heads and cams....

The rules for NADM say for 2.6 on up only say it had to be an option for a 1 ton truck or something like that... I am sure a p-pump could be put on a BBC and injectors, and pistons custom made.

just my random thoughts

Yeah...i don't like banks either, but he is a true innovator! Id like to see him build a puller and come play!

I think in years to come the CR will get better, but for all out performance, dont think you will ever be above the mechanical injection. Look at gas racing engines, theirs a LOT more aftermarket support for those and no one has came up with an electronic fuel injection that realy any better then an old holly carb!!!

I disagree there is a ton of fuel injection options for gas engines that would stomp a mud hole in a holley carb. The only reason racers still run them is class rules or lack of $$$.

I disagree with that whole statment!!!!! :bang
