Can we talk about triples?

how big of a 400 were you looking at using?

Comparing air flow to twin set-ups, the 2 35's should flow like a 480 or there abouts, so assumption would be to run a 362/462 secondary right?

Looking at my original idea again I see that the 35/40 secondary will probably limit me to the 500-550hp range heat wise, so that's why the hy's make more sense and should be better matched to the secondary right?

not exactly shure, i have very little knowledge on them. Ive changed plans and now im looking for 2 hy35's and maybe a k31

do you think an external w/g is needed on th vgt? Th housing opens very wide which I though would be th same as a w/g.

I know when I open th vgt all th way on my truck it makes around 20 psi boost!! And doesn't have much power and smokes like crazy. And closing it down a bit, it'll make 40 psi

I know the question is not pointed at me, but I don't think a Cummins can move enough air to use the housing when it's wide open. At least I know it can't with a 551. With nitrous I'd just watch back pressure and it still shouldn't need an external 'gate.

This is my plan on using a 551 for the manifold charger but Im using drive pressure to control it. Theoretically it will will just keep getting bigger to keep the pressure at X amount.

We should have a 12V with a 351ve on the dyno at beans next week.

With a HE551, and the housing stuck open, and 4000RPM, I can still see about 30psi at 550hp...however, it doesn't light until 3600RPM like that.

Also, the housing may be sooted up enough that wasn't wide open, I only run it through about 1/4 of its travel on my 98. I think it's big enough on fuel only, now spray may prove another story...I might try it, nitrous kit here now:D

Dragging this back to life...in cleaning out the shop over the weekend I discovered I have 2 usable hx35w's and 1 good 35/40 hybrid.

My thinking is although it may not be worth the fab time, it would save me a bunch of money and from what I've read should flow plenty of air for the 600-700hp I'm looking for.

I'm thinking a really cool running 600hp on the street playing and towing would be possible using the 3 hx's...or am I out in left field?

The secondary charger would be the 35/40 (60mm super wheel) with the 12cm housing (disabled) and an external gate on the manifold, then feed into 2 stock 35w's (56mm wheels) with _______ cm housings...

Any tips or ideas?

haha yep...replace the two primaries with hy's and move the secondary charger back farther and make it a 35/40. I started to dummy them in place last night...mine will be positioned like WOP's set-up, but use a different hot-pipe design so I can get the down-pipes out without chopping my fender well

a better picture would help... shure putting 3 turbo's together only takes a few days of fab time and alot of cusswords, but i can only imagine the wastegating....

I dont understand why you 'd have to chop out anything? I configured mine without losing ANY stock parts (other than air box) and I'm using slightly larger chargers than HYs. :what:

Internal gates are a pain, externals are simpler.
No rocket science here, honestly trips are easier than twins in some ways esp. when they get bigger.

I realize that, I was referencing WOP's set-up how they had to do some cutting for one downpipe to clear everything.

As it looks now, my hotpipe will look a lot like yours...should still flow fine and place the turbos in a good spot to route the rest of the piping around...all I have at the moment is them dummied in place, I'll take some pictures when I start fabbing up piping this weekend

Glad to see this coming back to life...just read all 12 pages. I just traded my silver bullet for a htt 64/71/13SS to twin it with something around a 475 or 480, but after reading this I would really love to try the triple idea.

Why not mount the secondary backwards...

I tried that tonight and it looked like leaving it forward would keep plumbing more straight forward and simple. I am however going to use a 12v "bus" manifold which dumps straight down between 4 and 5 like the common rail manifold.
