New motor build for the puller

Im also told that running an engine dry on initial start up will help bring cylinder temps up quicker and help seat the rings.

sweet build, hope it works out great for ya! what you hoping to get power wise?

always wonder when i see others warm up/first fire videos, why does everyone put the belt on with everything else still off?
whenever i do the first fire on a new engine i leave the belt off, mainly for less cranking stress, and cuz usually the batteries have been sitting and are weak. not being a d!ck, just saying is all.

The belt was just because as I was bolting the parts on I got on a roll and it was just another part I grabbed. Lol

As far as power goes, just knowing that a ton of the 1.6 trucks are in the 900 hp range I hope to be there close. Money wasn't the best for me this year so I had to cut back on shopping list but hopefully I still have enough good parts to run. The turbo and air to water setup is the main place I had to cut out. But hey there is always next year right. Haha

I've been curious about dry startups. It's something we do in our shop also.

While attending tech school, One of the instructors for the automotive dept was sitting in on a class and commented that Ford had released information stating that dry startup was EXTREMELY detrimental due to the fact that the cylinder wall temperature increased so dramatically.

The enthalpy required to heat the liquid cooling system far exceeds what it would take to overheat a cylinder was with nothing but air and iron surrounding it for induction.

I've never been able to find the report online.

Well I have been working on the truck but someone stole my rear axle out from under the truck. Lol

Damn thieves. Maybe they will feel bad and bring me a new diamond tread tailgate and a built Dana 80 dually axle. Lol

Here is a phone vid of my first hook with it. Got second place behind Blackstroker. I still need to tweak some to try and run him down. (haha) I will see if I can get a good video on YouTube sometime but this is what I have for now. It's not bad just a little far away. Overall I'm pretty happy with the way it runs. Especially for not getting to engine dyno it.

Thanks Zach. I think with a better turbo it should give it a decent kick. That little turbine wheel I think is holding it back alittle.
