No more stack vibrating...

actually i could put holes in the top of the clamp, insert l.e.d.s ( that way they will light up the stack)...the ricer diesel guys would love it!!! and the lights will be in the shape of stars....while im @ it, i will start the 10" stack club:hehe::hehe:

How much R&D could possibly be involved in a stack clamp? And I, like the others, fully understand one off production and custom pieces, but come on. $250 for a clamp whittled out of billet aluminum? And yes, I to am a cheap arsehole and I applaud TJ for doing what he did. Good for you.

TJ if I had the ability to make something like that I would too. Nice job, looks good.

Dang.. With todays economy you can't blame him.. I preffer to build my own stuff too...

Brandon, wish you claiming to be so smart.... I would think of all people you'd get what I was saying. Obviously no one can. It's not about copyrights, making something yourself.
I hear ya Ty- I work in the software industry and our products definitely have been ripped off/pirated/copied. One product we were able to track illegal usage and it sat around 18% illegal. However, this is expected and planned.

For example, it didn't keep me up at night when I located one of the sites where our stuff was copied and serial numbers were out in the open. Why? Two reasons. One, for support you had to provide a valid key. If it wasn't valid, no support or upgrades. Two, it meant that the product had a broader customer base. Even if there was an illegal home user or small business that 'forgot' to pay a site license, it meant brand recognition and free advertising. If there was a huge Chinese company that decided they didn't want to pay, their American counterpart would need the software and they would pay. It all evened out in the end because the market would pay for the demand.

The similarities are close. TJ made a clamp that looks close to a staxxxxx clamp and posted it. He's not selling them, so where would another member go to get one? Staxx!

How far off base am I, Ty?

I don't want to start this up all over again but I just want to say this.....

This is my opinion and it obviously doesn't jive with the majority. I only think TJ could have come across differently than he did. I told him through a PM that I thought he did a great job on it but,

Instead of saying ha ha ha, I didn't have to pay what I thought was a exorbitant price of $250 for my clamp, IMO It would have been so much better to have said...

I saw the Staxx clamp and thought... man, now that's a cool design. I couldn't afford and didn't want to afford $250 to purchase one so I decided to try and make one myself... what do you think ?

Giving credit where credit is due is all I was after with my statements. If you're going to copy a design... at least give the credit to those who put their time into long before you did.

That's it. Don't want to argue with you people about it.... I have no interested in the Staxx clamp other than trying to help the maker sell them. You guys wouldn't believe the amount of " wow's " I get went people see them. Of course once the price is known.... that enthusiasm fades. It's unfortunate they cost what they do but, I know the guys isn't trying to rape everyone with his cost.

IMO, that's very rude and you guy us are just a bunch of cheap asses.

enough to have a problem if paperwork was filed...

Well not everybody has $100 bill's trickling out of their a$$

He only made one for himself, not trying to sell them

I can only think of one thing when i hear this argument (which has been stated by the same person 100 times in this thread alone)

Vendor A used to sell cams and valve springs at $700-750 each and claimed he was making no profit, it was all in the material cost, R&D, machining costs etc.

The all the sudden Vendor B came out with similar products for A LOT cheaper. All the sudden prices for vendor A dropped to keep up with competition.

I don't care how neat, or awesome, or cutting edge my product is...if it takes me 2 hours to make one, and I only come out making $5 a piece on them...I'm not gonna make them. My time is worth more than that to me, I'm not gonna make a product as a "favor" to the diesel community unless I am at least making enough to compensate for my time.

I guess when Destroked started producing their adapter plates, they must have copied them from fordcummins........... I see the point you are trying to make Ty, but TJ didn't copy their product. Anyone with a CNC could do it. And how would you build a clamp differently? Offset the cut where the clamp meets? His isn't machined like theirs and like mentioned he isn't and has no intention of producing them. In our hobby, diesel motorsports, the replecation of parts is everywhere. Otherwise we would only have a few places to buy our stuff. It isn't like they are as common as a SBC. :hehe: And if you want your products to be a true one off, file for a patent. It is about the only way people might think twice about copying a part exactly how it was produced initially.

oh yea i just wanted everyone to know that I made my own version of a product already offered that isn't worth $250 to me...I am an asshole, I copied it, I kept my $250 to spend elsewhere. No matter how many times you say I'm rude or cocky etc. I will still have my free clamp and will not remove it and pay the stupid price for one that I think is tacky anyway with the lettering all over it.

:doh::doh: some people just don't have comprehension skills

do you have some intrest in the staxx clams? he said he used the cad program draw up the design, not take one of the all mighty staxx clamps and made an exact copy of it............:poke:

yet another example:
i made a intake horn that looks a lot like the one on pure diesel power's
wedsite but that dont mean i coppied it.

you are the only one in here whining and crying, leave the thread if you don't like that I copied it. you can reason (*****) all you want, but im not removing my clamp or changing anything.

I never asked you to and wouldn't expect you to. There's no whining & crying to it either. One day you'll realize where I'm coming from. :bang
