No more stack vibrating...

No I won't. i see things out there like bolt on tractions bars and driveshaft loops, I could easily drop over $1000 on them if i had the cash, but I have the ability to make them myself, and have more important things to buy. Do you see anyone in here whining about me copying their traction bar or DS loop designs...NO.

does that make me cheap...i guess so, but i dont give two chits. i made the part I wanted, and saved my money. You paid $500 for a pair of clamps...congratulations. as i said you can either get over the fact that i copied it and im gonna show it off, or you can stop clicking in this thread and go somewhere else.

Wow. I think I'm done wading through all the non-sense since I've made it to page 3. :D

T.J., looks good man. To my knowledge, a patent doesn't prevent someone from making an exact copy for themselves. If you sell, advertise, give-a-way, or do anything that takes business from the original designer, then you are probably in violation.

Anyway, enough of that B.S. I think over half the fun of building things your self is the design process. AutoCAD 2009 and Solidworks 2009 here. :D

ok, one more time and I'm done.... nothing that's been said here has merit to what I've been saying.

You would have never decided to make the clamp on your own "in that style" had you not seen the Staxx first. The credit for the design should be given to it's maker. Your copy doesn't deserve the same recognition as the original. You do deserve a  for making your own though. fyi.... I didn't pay $500

The reason TJ's gets more recognition than the staxx clamp is because it didn't cost $250. This whole thread points to the fact the staxx clamp is priced more than the market wants to support.

I got a question for ya there, Triton...

you're running a silver bullet 66, right?

don't you feel bad for running a Schwitzer center section wheel combo that John Deere spec'd that wasn't purchased through John Deere or even Borg Warner?

oh, and don't forget those side steps!!! my great grandpappy, Earl Tomlinson build a set of steps like that back in 1918... nobody else could have ever dreamed up such a design. Everyone who makes steps or front replacement bumpers or exhaust headers or tailpipes or tires are copy cats!!!

That was some serious picking on....lol.

Triton...I hear ya...everyone else....I hear ya.

Can we all be friends?

PS...I make everything I can too...

yeah and my grandpappy told me I'd run into very ignorant people in my life... man was he right

I never heard of Staxx when I had my stack last summer and that's how I would have made the clamp. Believe it or not, it doesn't really matter to me. You can make a square clamp, one like this, and a ubolt with a spacer behind and that's about the only options I can think of.

just so you know.... I'm not trying to fight with you, that's Kyles job :-)

Just pointing out that the asking price for the originals isn't really that bad when you think about what has to go into making them.

15 minutes on CAD and some billet stock?

I like it man. It looks good and YOU made it, and it saved you some cash .Well done.

I like all the bickering here. I think TJ has done nothing wrong. So what if it looks like brand X. Think a few years ago when there was one company making cams and valve springs for these trucks, what did they cost? Now look at the price once they were challanged. Just because something is shiny and only one company makes it doesnt mean it is worth what whatever they decide it is. I would have done the same thing given TJ's mad cad skills. I cant wait until the next great style of clamps come out from a new company so I wont have to pay $500 for a set.

I would like to apologize to the first person to ever invent, build, assemble, think of, design, put together, weld or bend tube to make a roll cage. I am very sorry for I have made several for jeeps and cars and will continue into the truck world. This also includes bumpers, tube fenders, and sliders. I would also like to say, you are the man for thinking of these things long before I was born. Your design was super, awesome, cool, and nice. But some of mine are better so once again sorry for the somewhat copy of your first cage in history.

I feel better now

I think someone is out numbered here. Must be a connection to the Staxx clamp itself.

Wow nice clamp. I bet in the amount of time that has been spent bickering about it by some people, 50 more could have been made.

i cannot beieve you guys are still beating this meat

Amen!

Is there a thread on CompD that doesn't have pissing or moaning in it? (That question is not directed toward anyone in this thread.)

TJ, I like the clamp and I wish I could have two for my 6" miters!
