Official Cali Sledpull thread!

[your right on the money!!! I know 2-3 years ago nick and tom would kill it in the street class and it was never fair cause there was no way a truck off the street had a chance really lol even know nick would drive it there and kick ass, But there wasn't enough trucks doing it to make the classes fair. I no when I talk to brian massetti last week from mlm he said theres not enough trucks to have organized class plus the time to tech each truck properly on specs for which class each truck belonged so it might be tough but worth it.

Dude I am not butt hurt at all but I think you are confused. I wasn’t complaining about the rules simply stated that I might have been the closest to meeting them when somebody mentioned tube chassis which, again, I didn’t know wasn’t allowed in the L&L rules until it was posted here !!!!! you make it sound like I was sneaky and did it intentionally which means you have no idea were I stand. I have been fighting for several years to make things fair and if you think I would have done that intentionally your just plain wrong!!!!

If you think I can’t do my sponsors right here on the West coast Think again and please let me know what you do for yours.

I just did three events in four days from Eureka to Sonora spent leave, lots of money of fuel, food, lodging, and fluids for the pull truck for a $5.00 trophy all for the love of the sport. Looks like your wrong again!!!!!

How am I wrong in the first place? I never once made it sound like you were sneaky at all. All I said was you were no closer to following the rules than the next guy. So don't make it sound like you follow the rules better than anyone else, whether you knew the rules or not. And as for you personally saying stuff about me pulling, you don't even know who I am so don't assume. Once again it makes and @$$ out of you. I dont need sponsers to glorify my truck. I can spend my own money just fine without wasting other peoples money. Making personal accusations about me without even knowing who I am doesn't work. Looks like your wrong, as always!!!!!!!!

and I am willing to bet a few of those guys are all ready planning and saving for a 2.6 charger and bigger sticks because they are reading NADM rules.

I don't know about the NADM part, but yeah-- guys have been upgrading since the first pull of the year. Actually, I'd venture to say most guys have made some kind of change this year.

Exactly, 2-3 years ago there weren't enough trucks. Last weekend at Sonora there were 10 trucks in the work stock, 5 in the street mod and 5 in the extreme class. That's enough trucks to warrant teching and class divisions. I do still think that ultimately the diesel guys are going to be teching themselves for the time being but, that's okay. We need to start at some point. If we want the sport to grow and develop a following on the west coast we need to all be reading the same rule book. As far as the pulls where there are only 5 diesel trucks, hey, you are still dividing into classes.

A stock guy wants to pull a sled set for his class, same for 2.6SD, 2.8SD and so on. You arent learing nything if your 2.6 truck is pulling a sled set for a SS truck other than you didn't pull very far.

The CSS sled and Weisenbergers Tuff Draggin sled (the brown sled) both use the same gear for street and extreme. Street class was pulling 200-250, extreme class was pulling 250-280ft.

and when I had a stock truck I hooked to a sled in the extreme class at a VTPA event, after redpuller yank the sled 214 i went 71 feet.

How many diesels show up to pull each event roughly would you say?seems to be around 10-15 trucks and to get all fired up on rules is alittle crazy!!!! I think that NADM rule would be great if there where more trucks attending these events. What would awesome is to try and get all these people off the streets that are blowing smoke and getting crazy and get them on the dirt and on the drag strip and have bigger events theres enough trucks out there to do this but how can we make it happen is the question?

In my opinion, this post illustrates the reason to get some rules in place. If you ask new pullers what their main concern is, it is that they don't know how to follow the rules because they are so mixed up from pull to pull. This discourages people and prevents them from getting too involved. Everybody will never agree on what rules to run, and I mean NEVER. If people are going to show up and pull all lumped together, it won't hurt to break them up in some reasonable classes, they still get to pull.

If you want to give a pull a try, that has rules (NADM), a purse ($4,200) and real tech inspection, come out to the Antelope Valley Fair Pull on August 29. We run 4 of NADM's classes - Work Stock, 2.6 Street, Super Street, and Modified. I didn't choose NADM rules because I have any particular attachment to them, but because they are being used quite a bit across the coutry already and because the classes would cover a lot of our trucks out here. Plus they agreed to help promote the pull a little. Again, these rules and classes will not be perfect for everyone, but they will be pretty good for most. Everyone does not have to meet every safety rule, but I would like to see some effort, and 3" rings are fine for the hitch because everyone asks.

I have been putting pulls on similar to this since 2004, most would agree we do pretty well. Go here for rules and registration.

I have been pulling for 3 years off and on. Work and money have keep me from being a pulling ***** like i want. Over the past 3 years pulling here on the WC has gotten bigger. It was brought up last year (i believe) that we needed a set of rules of the West Coast. I think we should get through this season, meet in the off season and make up a set of rules, agree on then ( we can't please everyone). Take them to L&L,MLM,VTPA and PTPA. NADM rules cover all the US. from Stock to Semi's. There rules are there to stay. Maybe build them around them. Who knows. Tecking trucks is no problem. There are several Diesel drivers that would be willing to teck.

I will be doing my best to get a head start with VTPA to get on board with the NADM diesel rules this Friday. I'll post up my complete report probably sometime Monday, maybe earlier but got lots of festivities this holiday weekend.

The diffrence between Stock and the next class is 10-15K. This is a lot of money if you want to compete in the top 3. I have backed off on building my new pull trk to see what and if rules we can come up with.

Craig glad you jumped in here.

I agree Craig has the right idea and does a really good job with classes and rules. Both Craig and Tom were around years ago when we met in the off season at Brian Messeti's place and came up with the current MLM rules. It is time to revisit/upgrade those rules and deliver them to the other organizations as well. Again, a big piece of the equation will be tecking our own, sounds like we have a good enthusiastic crowed this year let’s just hope they don't break get discouraged and quit cause that happens as well and then you lose all forward momentum. Most of the guys are started pulling with aren’t around anymore Brandon, Brian, Chris, Adam etc….
