1k on fuel.
I've been given the opportunity to try a PPE Hot programmer. My expense will be nothing.
Spoke with PPE today and was pleased with what they had to say so I will be moving ahead and trying one in June sometime.
My main goal will be to smack 1k on fuel. I have fell short numerous times and feel that another programmer may just ring the bell.

Will keep you all posted on the results.

Rob

this will be a great comparison for sure. I look forward to seeing the results.

Its worth a shot, but if you couldnt do it with the Smarty I really dont think it will be done with the PPE, unless it some special tune they made for you but still doubtfull.

You think its programming, and theres nothing else you can do to the rest of the motor?

Keep us posted!

When is this test happening? How far short of 1k are you now?

Rob, I hope it works for you,, make sure you are running a good pressure box,, the DrP race one works pretty good with the PPE. I ran that programmer on my truck,, so far nothing has been able to touch the smarty... but I am anxious to see how it works on your truck.
You are an excellent person to try this, as we know that you will report the truth! sometimes that gets lost.

On my truck I dyno'd with the following (with HP beside it)

Bullydog (with custom tune) 911
PPE Hot +2 low timing 993
Diablosport (puff tune) 1013

These are all with the Dr P pressure box

I never got to dyno the smarty before the turbo went,, but I did gain allmost a half second in the 1/4 just going to the smarty... so how ever much more HP that might be....

I am sure that Robs test will echo these findings, but I am very interested to see

It is possible that you picked up 1/2 a second due to more horsepower under the curve with the same peak numbers. Obviously in you case, going faster is the goal so smarty is your hot ticket. Let's say your game was spiking a dyno, there may be a better tuner and or stack of tuners and boxes that will make a taller spike on the dyno.

I'm very interested to see what PPE can whip up as well. They have big foot steps to try to follow!

back in my common rail days, i tested a smarty vs PPE HOT back to back on the dyno. Drove the 1.5 hour down there with the smarty loaded. Dynoed 546hp. While strapped to the dyno, re-programed to PPE HOT....579hp. No other variables changed.

PPE HOT on an 04.5-05 is the BEST thing i found for fuel only runs in my 05 truck. PPE HOT screams on the top end compared to a smarty. stacked with pressure its even better. It doesn't smoke a lot when compared to bullydog or smarty either.

I think you'll like it. Keep us updated.

I havent heard much about the Diablo?? Are they a pretty decent programmer?

They work ok,, not as good as the smarty.. they are cheap to buy, and a far superior to the bullydog (IMO) but as I say, its a big step up going to the smarty. I would never go back

The Smarty has not impressed me on the top end. I have tried a TST and this was a complete failure. Pressure and Smarty on 5 did 930 corrected in Boise.
I have tried the Revo/R and TNT/R.
I have 300f of fuel to go before I'm out of air. My temps at 900hp are 1200f no smoke. Rail pressure is 26k+ and boost may touch 70psi.
All runs have been data logged so there is no BS.
The only changes come test time will be the programmer and a Mitusa.

What smarty program were you running?

that was in sept or oct 07. That was back when you picked which torque program you wanted....stock, mild, wild or whatever the settings were. I didn't have any beta junk, just off the shelf smarty just like i purchased the PPE HOT off the shelf.

You smarty suck ups will argue that its not a fair comparison because its a "hot" program compared to a standard program. However, the PPE HOT tune was over a year old compared to what was at the time Smartys latest and greatest.

Rob, have you ever tried just the TST, no stack? When I ran a TST it had great top end but nothing down low. Just an idea. Ive thought time and time again about trying PPE out. I look forward you your results.

Yeah, i'm curious as to the PPE as well, looking for something that does not idle with black smoke on the higher tunes and well can accelerate from 60-65 with out a light smoke as well in any gear.

You going to dyno the Smarty before you load the PPE? Ive always wondered what PPE would do in comparison; always wanted to try it but Im happy with what I got. Looking forward to results
