PPE HOT will be my next atempt to reach

PPE HOT is for 04.5 and 05's only. Smoke is very streetable. Idle smoke isn't noticeable unless you have huge injectors. Mine were 180hp+ so yea it smoked at idle.

The PPE for 06-07's is totally different...be warned.

PPE HOT had very little added pressure on the top end. Its a very smooth and progressive tune that works very well for a daily driver.

Good luck switching to PPE on the rollers. Without a reflash from the dealer first i wouldn't chance it! (PPE fried my ecm)

More info? What do you mean by fried?

How would a reflash help before loading another tuner?

Would a Reflash possibly help my Rattle before reloading a tune??? Heard others talk about this....Does it work?? Cause I've got a buddy at a dealer that will flash it for me???

Sorry for the derail Onetun Rob!!!:Cheer:

I just tried to load a new PPE tunner i had on load from FTE. Smarty unloaded just as easy as always. When the PPE was first hooked up it was reading vin and it said somthing like "unable to communicate" i think. A call to PPE and the owner said its the smarty that "F" up. They claim smarty uses a different software when it reinstall s you vin to your ecm. We towed the truck to the dealer to reflash the ecm and it was to late. Dealer couldn't communicate with it either. I tried a recovery program from Bob and it didn't work either. I bought a new ecm....it sucked. Bob claims it is PPE, and PPE claims it is Smarty. All i know is i'm doin a reflash before i'll try anything again. PPE suggested the same thing, just to late. AND F PPE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I did it!!

I figured what the heck. I have not come across anyone doing it with any programmer on a 05 truck.
Time will tell

I had the PPE Hot on my 04.5. It and the 4.2 Smarty are neck and neck on MY truck. Smarty left it behind by over 100hp while on the rollers at TST when I 1st ran the Smarty TNT.

They (PPE) have scr..ed over numerous guys on their Dual CP3 setups as they don't put everything in the kit and then don't respond to the request to make it right. I would be darn careful dealing with a company that doesn't hear their customers. You either sell the whole thing or you don't!!!

Joel, I have read about this on another forum..sorry about your luck.
I intend on getting a reflash prior to the PPE install. My intentions on tying this tuner is to compare certain characteristics of the PPE and Smarty. I know what the Smarty is capable of, however I know nothing about any other tuner.
Hey I will log every run I do with the PPE and will be able to do a side by side with the Smarty.
My truck rattles like a SOB, maybe this will change with another tuner?? Who knows but in my eyes its worth a shot. Will I make more power on the rollers..not sure if I do I will be impressed.
Regardless of the outcome good or bad, I will share with you the experience. At the end of the day, I will run the programmer that best suits my trucks engine build and my driving habits.
This topic seems to have many truck owners interested as I have received several call, emails and pms.

Reflash..

:pop:

I'm gonna try a Reflash just for S&G's and see if it does anything for my rattle.....I sure hope it does cause I'm like you....I not as much concerned about Highest output as I am driving habbits, sound, and what best/safest for my build......

Looking forward to your results man.....

Let me be clear, 1000 is what I want.

I'm NOT sure I'm Clear....Cause 1000K is really like 1,000,000.....:poke:

:hehe:

Sorry Dude!! I had to do it!!! LOL

We know what you mean!!!!

:Cheer:

I have had personal experiences with both. I ran a smarty with the standard tunes then even with the 4.3 beta. I was told by the guys at PPE that there programmer makes more power. So I tried it for about a month. First on the street driving side of things, the ppe will pop and smoke and cough until operating temp has been reached. Then will clear up and run fine. It made decent power not even close to the smarty 4.3. But decent. I then tried another version of the ppe still had the issues when cold had a little more power but made it very difficult to build boost at a stop. (Remember I have a manual) still no comparison to the smarty. So I called and talked to PPE they said they were working on another tune for me to try. Well that took too long. So I called Bob back and told him of my mistake. I had a smarty back on the truck loaded with the TNT-R program within 2 days! Ill never switch to another programmer again. I made the 702 in my sig with just the smarty 4.3 program, no other boxes stacked at all. Now if I could get the 4.3 with the 4000 rpm that would be the ticket!!!

It will be cool to see some results, I want to run a bigger primary, but at this point I'm still not convinced I'm maxing out what I'm running. Running out of fuel on top, and sure envy the mechanical's from that standpoint.

Pretty sure Rob if you could get anothe 500 Rpm of fuel you'd bust through 1000 like nothing.

Our graph showed an hp increase of 50hp per 100rpm. So yes if I can get fuel in the top rpm I should be there.

I have heard that PPE has a tune designed for 03/04 s. Not sure what it is cause i didn't get the chance but a few on here have it.
Good luck onetun... I would like to see someone give smarty a run for their money, even though i won't think about switching again.
