What's a "good" number for a 12 valver street truck? We all know pullers and such can make good power, but what about street vehicles? 500hp? 700hp? More?

Steven Cole's (of EEP) 12 valve made 902hp on our dyno and I'm almost positive he drives it everyday.

If just street you can do 700 and keep it easy to drive. Towing i would say 600-650 with a small set of twins.

Few setups ago I was at about 550 and drove 120 miles a day. I loved it! This build should be quite a bit higher and it will still do the same things.

500 hp can be made almost smoke free and easily driven for thousands of mile without issues if driven by your pocket in charge.. also depend on you version of driver as you know..

Somewhere around 700rwhp was kind of what I was thinking.

I thought you heard??? Apparently 1k is as easy as hitting water falling out of a boat.....

i plan on keeping mine below 600 for dd.. thats still a dang good running truck even in my 7800lb cclb dually its still low 13's to high 12's.. and anything more and the motor isnt alway the fuse.. remember over 400 things behind the motor have a life expectancy that decrease with every 100 hp you add..

I once fell off a boat and hit the boat.

But I prefer 800+ on the street. If I could manage 1300 I would do that...but my idea of streetable is a little different than most. 500 is clearly more reasonable and economical though.

You guys are missing the question, basicaly if some one comes up to you and says my truck makes xxxxhp and It's a street truck at what number does your mid say eh that's good verses me. For me that's 700 600 is right out of the reach of the tuners but a turbo and tranny and a few other minor things and 600 is easy 700 requires more work/ require an actual plan to achieve.

This thread is respectable for a 12v not a CR :what:

It didn't seem like tha long ago when 500hp would have been pretty respectable for a daily driven truck. I actually think it is still respectable. There are a lot of guys that think they have that much and don't. There have been plenty of guys on here that have had trouble making consistant 500hp on a mechanical truck.

It also wasn't that long ago when a 62mm S300 was as big as you would want to go on a single on the street because a 66mm was just way too laggy.

That is all. Continue with the 800hp street truck talk.

well said lostnwalmart. I know 770+ on fuel and a little spray to make 902hp and 2070ftlbs at Beans is lots of fun

I agree that the 12v's are harder to make reliable consistent power out of. 500 is respectable but not good IMO I respect plenty of things I don't think are good :hehe: also you will end up comparing these trucks to what their competition is IMO so it doesn't seem to ridiculous of a comparison next to a cr of any brand. One thing I like about 12v's is that it still takes skill to set up a good running truck you cant just plug in uncle bubbas lope/smoke/piston melter tune and hit 500 hpLOL.

i still think a good running 550hp 12v will beat a cr of the same hp on a track...
