Rule idea?

Not everyones 2.6 truck is just a puller. Many of the guys around here drive theirs, one of them drove to almost every pull this year, just my opinion but these trucks are still streetable.

i agree, but top dog 2.6 guys arnt driving there trucks on the street... if they are ill shut up. and its not practical to drive a S400 based turbo, with 5x.020+ injectors on 600cc+ pumps on the street..

and the s480 bushed and contoured is about the only difference between the top dog 2.6 and everyday 2.8 pullers.

You put a top dog 2.6 charger on those 2.8 trucks and they would still stomp a mud hole in the 2.6 classes a$$.

i understand that..but do you see what im trying to say? so you put a 2.8 charger on a 2.6 truck and it will keep up with a 2.8?

okay idk thats why i was asking...im not tryin to argue...idk the my opinion. and ill leave it to that.

I mean the 2.6 guys could probably drive it on the street if they had to, just wouldn't be fun lol :st: :bang

dont try to fix something thats not broke, why would you change the classes? That wouldnt make any since if you asked me

Wes is probably sitting back laughing his a$$ off at the dust cloud he has created. Everybody is so worried about the TOP 2.6 trucks being able to hang with some 2.8 trucks. But the TOP 2.8 trucks with a charger upgrade would be right there with the 3.0 trucks. Its just the way it is!

Rules

I would bet that the top 2.6 trucks have the same motor as the top 2.8 trucks. The charger would be the only thing that would change. Jeff

Exactly.

No ag pumps in 2.6 either though.

TS outlaw allows rsv governors in 2.6 so sdx will most likely also. If i were to build a engine for 2.8 or 2.6 there wouldnt be a difference at all except the 2.6 charger would need a countoured wheel for a 2.6 cover to meet he protrusion rule. That would make the 2.6 engine more expensive.

At some point the "cheap" solution will be restrictor plates. They will dramatically reduce the advantage custom chargers have, and effectively cripple 5000+ rpm operation. They can be removed easy, tech'd easy, and are inexpensive. Street trucks can remove it and install it in minutes. And they can eliminate other performance rule restrictions

Start with about 1.50".

Then the big challenge will be to hide the nitrous better, or hiding the bypass vent. Spending big bucks on engine builds, custom turbos, or monster fuel systems won't do very much.

The TS rules will be the same for Scheids. Ag govs and hand throttles are allowed in 2.6. No fuel cells though cause that pushes it over the limits of street truck. Or is it because scheid dont sell fuel cells? This will remain a mystery.LOL

I still like the restricter plate thing. It would allow trucks to still be street drivin

What would keep guys from buying brand "X" spec charger and then taking it to "Y" turbo guru and having it maxed out further but it is still a "marked" spec charger. Example...back when i pulled gassers, we had a carb spec of no bigger that an 850 cfm crab... so i baught an 850 cfm holley carb, took it to a carb shop to have it worked on...800$ later the 850 carb flowed 1080 cfm!
just a thought...I don't know much about chargers so maybe mods to a spec charger can be detected easly...???

Jt drove his truck to every pull this year for the ITPA. We drive Brents truck on the street all the time when the weather is nice. Ric even his 2.8 duramax we used to drive it all the time, actually after that truck won Indy last year we raised the front end up didnt change the tune and I drove it back home about 20 miles. So tell me you can drive these trucks, if you want to make things interesting do a 20 mile drive with ever big pull no changes but weight and see what happens.

I'm glad to see that someone else noticed that little bit of absurdity! :hehe:

I would suggest a tamper proof seal around the compressor side to prevent removal of the housing.
