silverbullet help

how much in and out shaft play is acceptabe for the turbo, my new one has some again and im wondering how much is the limit, i know that none is what you want i just cant stand sending it out every few weeks to have thrust washers put in it,
Also whats the max egt that they can live with for few second pulls (5-10sec), and what about cruising egt. mine is at 850-1000on level ground to very slight incline, im wondering if thats to hot to be holding it at for long peroids of time,
Any input would be greatly appreciated

Again? OMG.

i just measured the shaft play, there is .028" in and out play. i just dont want to have it let go on me

ya again, it just sucks having the truck down for about a month then only have it be good for a week of so,

i just got a silver bullet and as i was installing the oil feed bracket to the top of the turbo and i got one in all the way with no problem at all and as i got about 4 rotations through the thread on the second bolt it just snapped off!!! the threads were not crossed and were the correct thread pattern. has this happened to anyone??? there was no fractures on any of the turbo that could be seen by the naked eye. theres no way that should have snapped like it did.

what is acceptable shaft end play??? I put a new intake on and checked it just to see and there is a decent amount probably 1/16" the turbo is only a month and a half old.:bang
My friend has had one for 3 years and his has none and he beats the balls off it.:what:

i guess they dont like us jim, mine most recent one has had .025" play after the first week i had it on there but there isnt anymore play that that in the past 3 months i have been running it.

I need to make a setup to hold a dial indicator so I can measure it now, and see if it increases, may be a warranty item.
Sux they made you pay shipping both ways when it is a product flaw.

ya it doessuck it has gone back 3 times this year so far and will be heading back again soon when my other truck is back on the road, sucks paying for the shipping everytime at 150 for the round trip, i have a holder for a dial indicator if you want to borrow it,

i took baby vice grips and clamped one on the turbo inlet where the filter tube goes and another on the dial indicator and welded a bar between them if you want a pic i can get one but thats my high dollar tool i used

I want to hear what Brady has to say about this. I sure hope he is going to cover shipping for you as well.

oh boy ryan ha I was thinking of something even a little more high dollar like made of some scrap steel I had laying around.:hehe:
Cummins724, If they didnt cover shipping for 01cumminssport, I doubt they would cover it for me. Correct me if Im wrong but he started having problems about the same time I did in my silverbullet ownership.:charger:

Did anyone find out what the tolerance is for shaft end play? I just took mine out to work on the wastegate and noticed there is a little(about 15k miles) I'll stick a travel indicator on the height gauge tomorrow and see exactly how much.

Zero in/out play is what I've been told.

I was actually referring to 01cumminssport. After 3-4 times shipping, he could have bought a new center section for that money.

the in and out play is supposed to be none but how much can you have and have the charger still live without it hitting the housings,

Who would you recomend buying a center section from, im looking to fix this problem so i dont have to worry about popping the charger and being out the money i have invested in it.

first off I have owned several II turbo's. One is probally getting close to 50,000 miles and is not used just for cursing around, it see's all type of driving.. I did however have one SB that broke the turbine wheel right off the shaft. After sending it in we realized it was a factory defect in the friction weld between the shaft and turbine wheel. II was fast and great about the turn around time. And like Brady mentioned earlier their all Borg Warner's, some times they come defective from them and people get upset at II for no reason. Also keep in mind a new turbo is prelubed but will always have less play once its on the truck full of oil.. And I hate to say this but out of all the the turbos ive had/dealt with, the Borg Warners are always made/have the most slop. just my$.02

Dave we understand up/down play is OK. Its the end play (in/out) that has us concerned.
