Turned the barrels today!

My dad was talking about getting 6 lines and 6 beakers and crakning the motor for a a while.

Another method i have read about is intalling 6 egt probes.

Roughly 450cc's on my 913 pump, with my 71mm charger made 551/1083, cleaned the smoke up to a pretty heavy haze. My pump has about 200cc's more left, so I needs me some spray!!

CDS benched pump, BTW;)
Chris

Looks like I'm in for some fun. :D

Sig600 How come CDS didnt bench it to flow more? what did it run you $?

sounds to me like they did and he set the plate back to the 450 cc mark.\

I made the number in my sig with the stock 175 pump,no barrel turning, and a 65mm charger.

More than 650cc's?? That sounds like close to max for 12mm plungers for me...I've only heard higher than that a couple times.

Yes sir, and it drives NICE!!!!!

Exactly...I've never had the plate all the way forward...halfway is 550cc's, and that was more fuel than this 71mm or my 62/S480 set could even think about cleaning up...never even began to change the color of the smoke:D

Chris

550 cc is a lot of fuel. IMO its more than most people need ... but it is nice to know you have more if you need it

I would tend to agree, but my plan when I got this pump was to put it on my 1/2 ton when it's ready...but now I have a 13mm for that truck, so I decided to keep my big 12mm pump, since it really has no bad drive ability problems.

A buddy that works at GDS just had his 215hp pump done by him and he seems to like it. I wouldn't hesitate going to Goff, I had a conversation with him and he seemed to know his stuff. Shipping killed me for my pump but Seth did a job that was very well worth it and I haven't been able to turn it up all the way yet. There are a lot of strong running trucks with pumps that have been handled by Goff that are local to us..

Ok ya im gonna have him do mine in a couple weeks.

What do you think of Goff? Ive heard nothing but good things about him ? I been thinkin of just havin him do my pump.... Cause he is local

He did my pump and I like it.Very smart man,and really likes p-pumps.

Here's a little update, the truck is runnin good, lowered the idle and it still idles smooth like always, if i dont plug it in it takes a little longer than it did to start cold but it still starts amazing! slight stumble when free revving but that could be another issue.

You should get that thing benched man, if it made that much of a difference turned, wait till they all flow the same !

I highly recommend not to do this "mod." If your looking for more fuel slide your plate, cut it down, or take it out. Add DV's if you still need more. All your doing by messing around with the p&b's is changing your equal delivery. At 21mm of rack my 841 did about 440cc's. Thats a ton of fuel for a nice sized set of compounds. My advice is use your stop plate to change your fuel. If the barrels are turned all the way one direction it will erode the aluminum housing. And #1 and #6 already run hotter. After turning the barrels you have no idea how hot they are getting.

That's why mine were done on a bench and at 19mm of rack travel my 215 was at 445cc with just a 100 plate and nothing else.

The egt probes would be really unreliable... all that would measure is how hot the cylinders get which is a result of the fuel/air ratio. Since #1 and 6 tend to run hotter anyway, you adjustments would be wrong. 6 beakers would be more accurate, but I think it still wouldn't be all that great. There really isn't a way you could makes sure each barrel pumped the exact smae amount of revolutions as the next since the motor will be near impossible to control down to the individual cylinder. Just my $.02

Off topic but does anyone know how to get in touch with JL machine? ive searched around and i havent found much on them. all i know is they can machine my DV's.

Young Guns,
I know of a JL machine, they are good with Oldsmobile gasser parts. I have had machine work done by them when I used to race BBO engines. I don't know if they are the same place, but they were good on the Olds. I guess I didn't help much, I'll try to get the address, we could compare that way.

Sorry i just saw the 450 ccs in an earlier post, somehow i didnt catch that your pump had 200 ccs more in it. and yes 650ccs is a lot
sorry.

Now to the original topic,
if one could turn all barrels the exact same amount, with a special tool (till one of them would hit the wide open point) would they flow the same?
